2011 NRL Player Rumours & Signings

dont think, even with Housten gone, and the possibility of Simpson retiring we need another rep quality back rower. Resign Hilder, then we have a solid backrow of:

11. Paterson
12. Taia
13. Hilder

I think we need to all out trying to get a HB first. then try and sign some promising young talent who may fly under the radar and come on the cheap.

These days hard working backrowers are so easy to come by, no need blowing the bank, spending 300k on one anymore, when you can pay a guy 150k and do the same job. Unless its a real game changing backrower that is, with a killer offload and can break the line on a constant basis.

100% agree. IMO we should go for Hornby, Anasta or even Soward
 
If we go for Hornby, might as well put gidley as HB. Anasta and Soward arnt halfbacks. There will be plenty of oppurtunity to get a halfback this offseason i think, might not be a top line one, but I know the eels and raiders will be getting rid of one of theirs more then likely. Kris Keating would be a good pick up i think.
 
Only critisism i have with Kris is he plays more like a 5/8 then a halfback. Someone like Robson or Hornby would be a perfect fit for us imo.
 
We dont need any ball playing backrowers. We have them in Taia, Paterson, Taufua, Ciraldo. Mika

As for Inu, only reason i'd go for him is if he was to play fullback. (thats only if Stone continues to put Gids in the halves). Otherwise no, we don't need him.

But really, all we need is a decent halfback

I'd rather gofor O'Donnell then Inu. We dont need any more backs even if maddog does retire. IMO backs should be brought up through the ranks and not bought
 
Over the next couple of years the Knights only really need a Pettybourne or Hornby type player. We can keep improving and eventually make the grand final if we get players like them. IMO though we already had a Pettybourne in Houston. But too bad.
 
Just want to throw up Tom Learoyd-Lahrs name... To me he's a stand out young bloke with state of origin written all over him.
 
Luke Walsh extends deal

CEO Michael Leary has today announced ahead of Panthers Round 1 Premiership game for 2010 the extension of Luke Walsh’s contract until 2012.
“Luke has been in dynamic form in the trials and is seen as a long term integral part of our team,” Leary said.
“The club now has a top line number seven assured for the next three years and we can now move ahead with securing other key players in the team.”
Luke joined the Panthers after the 2009 season had started, debuting for the club in Round 7. He went on to win five of his first six games after starting at halfback.
