2011 NRL Player Rumours & Signings

Matt Duffie

Word is that late last season, Peter O'Sullivan was having a chat with this kid to bring him around to the Roosters

THE NRL will receive some much-needed good news this morning, when Johnathan Thurston announces his decision to reject French rugby and stay in the saddle at North Queensland.

SUPERSTAR centre Mark Gasnier is poised to make a stunning NRL comeback this season - and it's likely to be with his old club the Dragons.

The former St George Illawarra star has cut short a holiday in France, where he has been playing rugby, to rush back to Australia with his wife Claudine.

Claudine's father was diagnosed with cancer late last week.

The pair spent much of yesterday at Royal North Shore Hospital.

The Daily Telegraph can reveal the champion centre is keen to return to St George Illawarra or a rival NRL club before the June 30 deadline for signing players this season.

The Newcastle Knights are also in the running for his signature, but only if the Dragons are prepared to relax a clause in his 2008 release that he can't play for another NRL club before 2012.

Dragons boss Peter Doust has already met with NRL boss David Gallop and salary cap auditor Ian Schubert to investigate ways of squeezing him into this year's cap and back-ending the deal.

"We've worked out it can be done if his price is right," a Dragons source said.

Asked how keen coach Wayne Bennett was about doing a deal, the highly placed source said: "Wayne would love to coach Mark Gasnier."

TBH, i really wouldn't want Gasnier. Inglis would be far better.

We have our own Inglis in Uate, runs fast and hard, breaks the line easy and gets around players :dancing: love to see Gasnier but play him in the number 4 jersey, him and Uate would do wonders and Sau and Vuna seem to just click well on their side together.

1. Gidley
2. Uate
3. Sau
4. Gasnier
5. Vuna

Solid back line to me. But then again James McManus :doubt: but also then again Newcastle have done this so many times and fell through so no use getting your hopes up high until it is confirmed.

Josh Dugan

I read on the canberra raider forum that on the nrl tactics they said that he has signed with the roosters 4 next yr jw if any1 has hearded anything simalar

Roosters are a disgrace. Use some of your own juniors instead of stealing everyone elses........... I really thought Dugan would have a good future at the Raiders.

Hustler won't be happy lol

I agree Aidos, Sydney City sh** me off aswell, they can not buy a premiership with all their money. I thought Dugan would do big things at Canberra aswell, now he will go nowhere at Sydney.

What possible reason could the Roosters have for wanting Dugan? Carney has been on fire at fullback and they still have Mini on the wing.

They must be looking at Pearce/Carney in the halves with Anasta back to Lock

 I dont know how true this is but if he wants to go then he can, i'd rather have someone who bleeds green to be honest. He wont be anything special at the roosters anyway.

And also there are talks about Knights looking to sign some of our backrowers, maybe before June

There is a new rumour everyday of Knights planning on signing somebody  sucks about Dugan though, Canberra build up good juniors then eventually they lose the loyalty & want the money so off they go.
