Knights Seek to Re-sign Seu Seu

I remember in like 2006 when Bedsey was out and Quigley was brought in. Everyone was talking about it, how he'd go etc. We got thrashed by the Broncos I'm pretty sure. The ruck was just to vulnerable

A lot different now though, our defense is at a whole new level.

But i also remember he played in the manly game at Brooky, where he played awsome in a great victory for us. Bedsy was on Origin duties.

EDIT: Also lookin at the highlights, it was a great game for Nathan Hinton.

Quigley was about our best player that night.

Knights seek to re-sign Seu Seu
By Josh Massoud | April 12, 2008 12:00am

NEWCASTLE are preparing for an about-face on sacked prodigy Terence Seu Seu, with the talented hooker suddenly a chance to rejoin his junior club.

Seu Seu was sensationally dumped by the Knights early last month after recording a repeat drink-driving infringement.

The troubled 20-year-old has since found a refuge with Jim Beam Cup outfit the Southern Sydney Sharks, with whom he has started two games this season.

While Seu Seu has adjusted well to his new surrounds, this week's upheaval on the Knights board of directors has generated an unexpected opportunity for him to return home.

The Saturday Daily Telegraph understands newly elected directors Tony Butterfield and Robbie Tew have made it their first order of business to begin the task of enticing Seu Seu back.

Butterfield could not be contacted for comment last night, but a source close to the Knights said: "There's a feeling that Terence could have been given one more chance.

"He's got a few issues, but with a bit of work people are confident they can help him through it.

"He's also a local kid and the club has invested a lot in him."

Since arriving in Sydney, Seu Seu has been living with his uncle and Maori elder Wi Wharekura.

Wharekura confirmed he had been contacted by a Newcastle executive to organise a meeting. "They want to see how he is coming along and make sure he is OK," Wharekura said. "It would be great if he could get another start at Newcastle, but there's a long way to go yet."

But any move to lure Seu Seu back to the Hunter would have to wait until next season because he has just signed a six-month lease for an apartment in Rockdale.

The Sharks, in the meantime, shape as the most likely club for Seu Seu to play NRL football in 2007.

His Jim Beam Cup outfit is loosley aligned with Ricky Stuart's team and Seu Seu was recently invited to train with NSW Cup feeder side the Cronulla Cobras.

But Sharks CEO Tony Zappia denied moves were under way to sign Seu Seu to a short-term deal.

Meanwhile Knights coach Brian Smith last night took a playful dig at Brisbane's depth of topline talent as he plotted an upset in tomorrow's NRL clash at EnergyAustralia Stadium.

"What are they down to . . . seven or eight Origin players, or maybe more?" said Smith, of Broncos captain Darren Lockyer's injury-enforced absence.

"Darren's a great player and he obviously has an effect even for his state and national teams so it's handy from our point of view.

"But they've still got a team with so many great individuals."

The Knights go into the match well aware they were on the losing end of a 71-6 scoreline - the fifth highest total in 100 years - the last time they met.

We really do need to make him a priority signing to fill the spot of Bedsy next year. Then we can use that money to buy another dynamic back or some forward.

But if we go with Seu Seu im sure we would have quite a large amount left over (Seu Seu wont be earning anythinge even close to Bedsey).

Yeah, that's what I meant. Just worded it bad. I wonder if he'd be signed on to more or less than he was before. :-k

I got no problem with signing him up for next season, but I'm glad it won't be for this season.

A year out of the NRL, that's a pretty big punishment, and he should have learned his lesson.

Ilike that comment from Smithy about the Broncos origin players still available with Lockyer out. Nice one:)

On Seu Seu I don't think a bloody six month lease on a property is going to stop him from coming back to us TBH if we want him and he's happy to come back he'll come back.

I still think we should've kept him and just punished by other ways.

We better sign him up before someone swoops in and takes his talent.

Not really, considering we said when we got rid of him that the door was open for a return if he sorted himself out.

He had so many chances, it was obvious nothing else was working.

Settle down, we haven't even signed him yet and your getting your knickers in a knot. :)

Probably hasn't sorted himself out yet but surely by the end of the year he will, I know he has some Kiwi mentors helping him out.

oops sorry

yeah hopefully by next year then

Hopefully he can sort himself out though, would be a great replacement for Bedsy and quite cheap too!

If we do sign him again, it will be with conditions and rehab etc. So i dont think we would really look foolish.

How much do you reckon we will sign him for? and anyone know what he was on before (although he barely player FG)?
