Justin Holbrook discussion

Anyway, if he does or doesn’t get coach of the year, I’m just watching the replay and am so glad that he’s going to be the coach to break the drought.
I genuinely think he’s taking us to the top and I’m going to be making sure I’m there to watch it when it happens 🍻

He has to be coach of the year. Webster, Cleary and Woolf have all had great years and deserve a mention but none of them have improved their sides like Holbrook. We’ve gone from the worst side in the comp to one of the most consistent with only a couple of signings.

I honestly can’t think of any coach at any time who has done as good a job as Holbrook has for us this year.

That being said it’s the Dally M’s so they’ll probably give it to an undeserving Rooster so Robinson it is.

One of those signings, Sandon Smith, was meant to be a bench hooker, now he’s about to lead us to a Grand Final 🤞🏻

It’s from a few days ago, but just came across a really great article about Holbrook.

Titans getting rid of him might go down as the dumbest coaching move since the Warriors gave Cleary the punt with all three grades making the Grand Final that year.

Edit: sorry, I see @Celticman98 posted this a few days ago! 🤦🏻‍♂️😂

I think it’s a bit of a different situation here. Sure they should have kept him, but the squad he has here is a much stronger squad than the titans. And the timing of Hollbrooks arrival has coincided with administration and pathways being setup correctly just before.

Hard to sway how the voters will pan out. With plenty of Sydney media guys voting unless it's a slam dunk it's unlikely. I think if Knights made the top 4 which was very possible with a majority healthy team throughout the year it would have been like 90%+ chance.

Not mad with whoever gets it. Warriors/Dolphins/Panthers whoever you want have had terrific seasons and their coaches seem like top blokes.

Very casual discussion on 360 last night about how Holbrook may have gone past Fitzgibbon as the next roosters coach. Does it even matter that both guys are already under contract head coaches?

Lol what...depends on the context, both were assistants at the Roosters?

The way it was said, Fitz has always been seen as next cab off the rank but Holbrook may have impressed to the point he has gone past him. Still doesn’t change the fact that both are at other clubs.

I take Justin at his word that this is where he always wanted to coach.

And real talk... why would he leave? This is their likely team next year:

1. James Tedesco (nearing retirement)
2. Reuben Garrick
3. Rob Toia
4. Billy Smith? Hugo Savala?
5. Billy Smith?
6. Hugo Savala? Toby Rodwell?
7. Sam Walker
8. Naufahu Whyte
9. Reece Robson
10. Lindsay Collins (nearing retirement)
11. Siua Wong
12. Salesi Foketi
13. Victor Radley

14. Benaiah Ioelu
15. Nat Butcher
16. Egan Butcher
17. Blake Steep

Tupou's likely retiring or going to England, Crichton back to rugby, they are actively trying to punt Leniu. I am 100% convinced that they did the DCE thing because they thought they had a crack at it this season before they need to transition to the next iteration of their squad.

Very real talent drain happening there. They've all but planted a flag outside Easts Leagues saying "we are betting our future on being able to sign Herbie Farnworth". I will be tipping us to finish above them next year.

Hes a breath of fresh air to players and fans. He seems like a terrific fella and i hope he keeps improving the squad for years to come. He could be our Bellamy, here for the next decade.

I don’t think you can underestimate the value Mark brings to the team, without him they’re cooked.

Yeah, completely agree with that from Justin's pov. It was the casualness that irked me, it was just said like they would prefer Justin now, no need to look further.

Clubs like us only exist to serve the "big" clubs don't you know?

This is a big part of why I could never be mad or bored of Penrith's success. I ****ing loved seeing one of the "little" clubs absolutely shove it in their faces over and over and over again.
