Really have to wonder what they think they're doing. Pezet this year, Luai next year ... they're not anywhere near the level that a one year halves signing is going to push them into contention. So why not sign a younger player long-term (Volkman would certainly be a good option) and try and build something?

IDK why they're considering paying $1m for Bradman (if reports are true). Yes, he would absolutely improve them, but what's their spine in 2027 when he turns up?

Are they buying Bradman because he's a player they need to complete their squad or a bloke they can get for the right money?

Hey so this may read like excuse making but the Warriors have been scoring embarrassing looking (for the other team) tries all season where they put up what looks like a pretty nothing kick which doesn't go as deep as you'd like, but lands in the no man's land between fullback & winger, and it's almost always Halasima, Laban or Stowers-Smith attacking the kick... I can't get my head around why it's been working as well as it has all season. They got heaps of joy vs Souths last week and they got Penrith with it too. Looks like a bad kick but it's a deliberate tactic. I notice they're playing very cynically for escorts too so that introduces a lot of uncertainty into the minds of the blockers I reckon.

One of those things where they'll want to win the comp now before everyone else cottons onto it?
 
Yeah I can see why they’d be doing it. It’s never a bad idea to just put the ball into space. So if they’re in the right part of the field and nothing is on, why not put a kick up into space (no-man’s land) and see if you can make it a contest?

You’re effectively turning an almost guaranteed catch from the opposition into a 50/50 shot. Worst case scenario, you present a staggered defensive line and maybe they streak away to score. More than likely though you’ve got a decent chance at getting the ball back at least or scoring.

It’s something I think the Knights should do because Sandon doesn’t have a big boot but we do have plenty of players who can potentially catch a kick in no man’s land, so why not make it a potential contest?
 
Yeah I think it'd be rare to have as many different really athletic players who aren't wingers/centres who are capable of challenging the ball like that, too. You effectively run interference on Dallin or Leiataua like you would against any other team and then their front rower outleaps your fullback. It'd be tough to deal with and it's very smart leveraging of where their team is so strong.

Fitzgibbon blaming the refs for the penalty rather than his lazy and entitled playing group giving away cheap and dumb penalties against a team that was determined to have a crack at them. He really is starting to look like a bloke given a good side and has ground it down into an average one.

Nicho has essentially been playing as a running 6 with a 7 on his back, and now with Trindal (who was directing the team around the park) hurt, they're really struggling, having blown the softest run home to miss the top 4 and their best chance at a title in years.

Nicho might actually be better at FB ....but he's probably not better than their current FB. All of which should have been long addressed by Fitzgibbon.

Fitzgibbon looks like an AOB-style coach, a fixed and formulaic coach who can't identify threats and opportunities and can't solve problems, and also struggles to improve players.

PS. I'm really glad we didn't sign Tom Hazelton even though we could do with another prop rn.
 
Just on the Souths V Roosters game this week. I don’t think Robbo will rest any players if they are 100% fit. Hopefully they have Tuopo and Crichton back. I think they really missed Radley last week. Smith moves into centres if Tuopo available.

They will want run Savala and Cherry Evans in the halves for combination. Teddy had 3 weeks off prior to last game so match fitness for him also.
 
Yeah, I think Robbo gambles on playing his best team this week and trying to bed down a halves combo that can still win them a title.
