Hunt is clearly a freakish talent who improves every week. Perfect build and athletic output to be a 250 game NRL centre.

Seve and Winter are exciting but they've not showed a glimpse of the talent that Hunt displays practically every time he pulls on a jersey in FG. And given the age of those two boys, who's to say they even take to FG?

Losing Hunt would be devestating. Good thing we've got McCarthy for next year! Just in time for our premiership window

He doesn't name them, but hopefully we see a heap make the schoolboys and girls sides.

I saw the CCC side (bloody catholics) played a trial against under 16s Knights at the centre of excellence a few days ago.

I think it’s just POS letting the manager know we are nowhere near a spot where we need Hunt which we aren’t no matter how many of his fan boys try to make it seem.

With Seve, Best, McCarthy, Winter, Aoake, Votano, Sharpe and I could literally go on for another 5 names.

So it instantly puts the ball right back into the court of the Knights especially by naming players like Seve and Winter with Winter being an Australian schoolboy and origin rep and playing great since his switch to centre.

He’ll be free to negotiate with other clubs from November 1 this year. If we see Hunt as our first choice centre for the next couple years, it would be in our best interests to lock him up before then. Otherwise, if he signs a big money deal elsewhere during the off season, his manager will likely push for an early release from the final year of his contract. This is a story we’ve all seen before.
 
O’Sullivan likes “his” guys, especially in the juniors or the bottom-end of the squad. Haami Loza was our best junior half and was moved on in favour of bringing in Matthew Hunter. Seb Sua was moved on for Wil Sullivan. Matt Arthur was seen as our hooker of the future only recently, O'Sullivan brought in an unheralded Harrison Graham (his first ever signing at the Dolphins) and now it seems like only a matter of time until Arthur is gone. Sosaia Latu signed a 5-year deal and is now being nudged out with a few years still to run, which I suspect isn’t unrelated to Mel Nonu’s arrival and development. He’s been holding the back door open for James Schiller and Kyle McCarthy, and it seems like Connor Votano’s future is elsewhere. All were existing signings when he arrived.

Hunt is in that same boat. Was already in the system when O'Sullivan arrived. Signed to a new deal by O'Sullivan after debuting, but one that kept him in the development squad for another 2 years before finally joining the top 30 in 2028. I said at the time I thought that was pretty telling on how much faith O'Sullivan had in him, at least in the short term. It's clear Hunt won over both the current and previous head coach very quickly but they aren't the ones writing contracts and putting the squad together. I think it's very plausible that O'Sullivan thinks some combination of the three young centres will be able to have a similar or greater impact than Hunt in two years time for a lower salary. Winter or Seve could leapfrog him for Gagai's jersey from the jump next year for all we know.

Yeah I misunderstood the original post making me think he was signed until 2028 not 2027.
It’s a tough one having had to do deals to keep Ponga, Marzhew, Best, Lucas, McEwen etc
