2026 Season

KPP is a bit overhyped, commentators were going crazy over an offload that went 3metres backwards and the player was tackled behind where he threw it. He has so many games where he doesn't get close to 100m, he's just too slow to be a line running threat. Many of his offloads are pretty ineffective. I'd much rather McEwen tbh.

Also don’t know how Parras defence fell for the short ball from Galvin. He doesn’t throw any other pass but a short ball to his back rower

Just caught the ‘highlights’ of the Bulldogs-Eels game. Looked like a shocker!

P.S. Thanks to the NRL for reminding this Englishman that it is the King’s birthday.

Tigers are absolutely desperate if they're offering a 37-year-old Folau a train and trial deal.

I'm not sure what that says to their young outside backs when they're seriously looking at a has-been but nothing good.

Yes, they've had some key injuries, but the Tigers' early-season hype seems to have been well and truly overblown.

PS. IDK why Folau thinks the NRL owes him anything; he took the money to sell AFL to kids in Western Sydney.

Interesting backstory, his Polynesian background (like many) always made it tough for him to stick up for himself 'against his elders', parents and more notably his dad. Obviously well known the money on offer was too good to be true. Was kind of a first as not many Polynesians play AFL and it was their strategy to no doubt get Western Sydney behind the Giants and Folau as you mentioned...Polynesians being from that demographic location.

His dad was a big influence getting talking him into it with the money on offer. As Mormons do you give a bit of your salary to the church. He talked about family coming out of the woodwork and learning to say no at times. Faith, family and finances as they say.

Then mentioned how eventually how he got sick of AFL and knew it wasn't for him and had to eventually say to his dad he didn't want to do it anymore, and it kind of made their relationship better. Another big reason obviously not really knowing the fraternity/network of AFL players. Polynesian guys in the NRL are way more connected regardless of where you're from, you'd be surprised at who knows who.

As for League, yeah it's probably a few years too late, Even when Sonny Bill came back the second time he was well past it and knew to call it quits. I think he was a few years later. Similarly Israel is a physical specimen, interesting to see how his body handles such a deal. Athletes play into their later years etc. Just an interesting case study.

Reminds me of Tuqiri coming back and playing for the Tigers … and then one final season with Souths where he won a premiership at the age of 35.

Will be interesting to see how Folau goes if he gets a club.

I remember working with NRL-obsessed kids in Western Sydney at the time who were huge fans who felt let down.

On the case study point, the Tigers have a stack of good young outside backs, and they're talking to a bloke who hasn't played in the NRL since 2010 or Super League since 2020. Tigers from early season top 4 contenders to missing finals again and the return of the basketcase days by the end of the season?

I mean it's a train and trial deal, which afaik theres no limit to the amount of them that can be given. He may get a game or two but highly unlikely many unless he plays the roof down. He will bring exposure and may make Tigers an interesting choice for Polynesian players.

Media: Do you think the club's struggles this year have been because of the lack of a recognised hooker?
Bulldogs: Absolutely not.
Media: So you won't be going to the market for a new hooker?
Bulldogs: No, we're happy with what we've got.
Media: Anything else for us today?
Bulldogs: Yes, we'd like to announce our new hooker.
