2026 Season

This has been a reasonable game to watch. Not one I’d usually go out of my way to watch either.

Poor Adam Elliot off with injury by the looks of that. Thought he’d been decent today. Can’t catch a break.

Replay makes it look like bone/ligament/syndesmosis.

Some like watching Dogs lose. I enjoy the Rabbits struggling haha. The blueprint for teams is surely upset Walker. It used to be a bit of a 50/50 if he’d go up or down a level. Now I’d say 75% of the time he’s goes off kilter.

It’s a weird game because I don’t think Cows have played that good especially the second part of the first half, I think a full strength rabbits beat the Cowboys but you can only play what’s in front of you so good game.
I still have a feeling Cows will manage to fall out of the 8. I’m shocked how good their record is. They can be such an up and down team though.

It's interesting because Payten is up for a contract renewal.
But there are plenty of wins that have been like that, they are also just as likely to lose to anyone on a bad day.

If you're the Dragons and you're looking to breathe some life back into the team, you're absolutely getting him down there for a chat.

The Cowboys may also just have to offer something, because there isn't really anyone else better available. But obviously you aren't offering a long term deal. 2 finals appearances in six years isn't exactly a glowing endorsement. But when they have looked good it has been promising.

Just not sure if they will reach the next level under him.

Interesting dilemma there isn’t it.

Seemed a few losses away from getting sacked.
Now they’ve got a few wins, it seems odd to not renew your coach if you’re sitting in the 8. Especially when there ain’t much available. Blake Green is there too. Wonder if they’ll see him as Head Coach material.

In saying that, the board would probably want no more than 2 years “extension” to keep a “payout sacking” on the table.

From Paytens perspective, he probably wants 3+ and potentially is in a position to say “you’ve seen me work these years, do you trust me or not?”.

Do you accept 2 years at Cowboys? Or go back to the coaching pool with reputation in tact and try and get 3+ somewhere else when somebody inevitably needs a new coach like Dragons.

They are losing Drinkwater. Coincidently off to Dragons…
Outside looking in, Cowboys don’t look like improving out of sight anytime soon.

Dragons seems pretty willing to make some signings. Imagine they are in a good position to take some risks and release players to negotiate with PNG if it doesn’t work out.

Andrew Abdo has resigned.
The biggest achievement of the Abdo and PVL was navigating Covid. One of the first and only sports worldwide to continue through it and came out looking pretty good.

They even managed to sell cardboard to people.

Here’s hoping they stop tinkering with the game.

Unless playing 4D chess. Change rules gradually to promote more tries, more stoppages.
More stoppages - more advertisements.
More advertisements - more money for Broadcasters.
More money for broadcasters - more money they offer for rights.
More money for the game.

Then go back to a better balance.

I’m saying that, there’s a lot of different ways to advertise now, that don’t involve stopping play. A League broadcast minimises to allow border advertising at various intervals.

Yeah it's actually crazy how he's been a protected species a lot of that time too. If AOB had two finals appearances
in six years the media would definitely been saying he's under pressure. Except Payten seems to time things to make the
finals at the right time. It's really only been a preliminary final that has saved his behind, then a week 2 one a few years back where they were no where near a premiership threat.

I actually don't mind the Cowboys wanting to see out the year to see how things go. There may be a risk some other team
just decides to snap him up in the meantime that's looking, but with the Dragons really being the only team with a clear
opening for Head Coach you're not sweating. And you're not totally adding too many dollars and at worst maybe a year to the value if he has a good year.

Maybe teams have seen how other teams have been burned sacking coaches after signing an extension they're happy to wait.
Regardless you know Moses is out there trying to gauge interest or if he does go, to get Green the Head Coach gig.

Someone should sponsor set restarts, exposure would be going through the roof this year!
