I disagree that Watson is cup level, but I do think the Knights, if they have the sort of cash available to sign Watson for a "gap year", would be better off spending it elsewhere.

What position does he cover that we're currently short in?
 
Yeah I don’t know why Watson is a discussion for us. No way we’d offer anything close to a deal that the Dragons would and we have Sandon as main cover plus others that can play multiple positions.
Cant justify both of them on the bench and Im sure Watson wants to play somewhere where he’s at least competing to start
 
It isn’t as diabolical as you might think, look at Watson his career in first grade is basically a 14 utility, because he wasn’t really great at anything but can cover a lot of positions and do a decent job, well with the 6 man bench that allows you to put specialists in those positions that will be much better in those same positions as Watson, so what do you do with a guy that isn’t needed whilst having better people below him? You send him to cup.

He doesn’t even make the bench here anymore.

Like really think about it, Watson is a lock, hooker, five-eighth utility, at the Roosters they have Benny for 9, Savala/Rodwell for 6, Foketi/Radley/Step for lock. Put them on the bench and Watson becomes obsolete.

Here we have Graham/Sandon/Arthur for 9, Sandon/Hunter/Gamble for 6, Croker/Frizell/ESL for lock.

I agree he wasn’t always a cup player now he very much is, even when picked for origin, it wasn’t because he was good because Brailey was still miles ahead, he got there because he was versatile whilst being deemed “good enough”, the second a 6 man bench comes in and he doesn’t make origin and now the Roosters say he isn’t needed, it isn’t a coincidence.

Bloke was a NSW representative player less than a year ago. I think we need to take the pettiness of him leaving the club and put it aside.

You don’t just play 170+ games of first grade and 8 rep games if you’re cup level.

No pettiness involved. Watson is not good enough to make the Knights top 30. So he could play cup maybe. We need players that can win games, we dont need a player that looks half decent when they are surrounded by winning players.

Heavily agree, but is the club even looking at him?, we really shouldn’t be going after anyone that doesn’t play prop
