2026 Season

Not trying to be contradictory for the sake of it but I think KPP leaving is honestly win-win. I think the speedy line runners on both edges compliment our backs way more than KPP did, we find more space for Kalyn & Dommy on the right with McEwen because he is very happy to keep running that hard unders line. McEwen & Lucas are a big part of our slick sideline to sideline ball playing.

OTOH I think what the Tigers do in attack hinges a lot more on working over the middle third, it’s a lot more attritional, and he fits perfectly within that as an early ball second phase guy who can capitalise on the fatigue & soreness the rest of their pack can put into the other mob. Sort of like an ALDI Hudson Young for them.

He went to the perfect club for him which allowed us to promote the perfect player for us, everybody’s happy.

Probably just less of the pie for others as well I guess, exception of Ponga much harder to sell to Marzhew unless you’re giving him a year with an option or something. Then you kinda pretty much resigned to losing McEwen (not sure if that was around the time the bogus media reports came out before losing KPP) but everything has a snowball effect.

Yeah, think I’d prefer McEwen. Just helps add a bit more bulk to our pack.

Fair enough. Good points.

I’m sure Holbrook would have found a way to integrate KPP better mind. But yeah at the end of the day I’m very happy with who we have.
