The guy should be looking at his watch, not a calendar, for accuracy.
Wasn't a huge fan of PVL before he took over the NRL, seemed like a skeezy Sydney chancer...I've worked with plenty. And I have to say, NRL types nodding sagely as he claimed he had a choice between playing NRL first grade and accountancy...and he chose accountancy didn't help. But I have to give credit where it's due: he has done spectacularly well in navigating COVID, expanding the league's profile and size, and maintaining the NRL's strong financial position.
However, I wish more than anything they'd stop fiddling with the rules; it's never been good. All rules, unless they're specifically about player safety (eg, the 19-man bench), should be thoroughly trialled in the lower grades. It's the one area where the PVL administration has completely failed.
