NRL Round 5 - Knights Vs Raiders - 4:05pm Sunday, 5th April - McDonald Jones Stadium

Blocker mixing up Daniel and Jacob already 🤦
Both him and Vossy had an absolute shocker today.

How about Vossy’s ‘stat’ where the knights haven’t won at home since…

No **** Sherlock

Imagine going off 2025 where the team checked out, had injuries leading to all those losses thinking it counted toward 2026 when they only played once at home and even that was after the game with Brown/Ponga injuries. Amazingly bad commentary from Foxsports

Anyone see the channel 9 commentary about how the Raiders were dudded with the Tamale sin bin? That was very clearly the correct call. Even the Hosking no try they thought was wrong. It’s soft, but by the letter of the law it’s not a try.
It’s a call that went our way for sure but no way in hell you can say with confidence that Young’s left forearm bounced into his right to have an initial knock on before going back to Saulo scoop up to score.

Channel 9 commentary is unwatchable. Dom clearly has his arm held, on a ball he could have easily caught and brought to ground; it's a clear professional foul, IDK what the refs are supposed to do there. Any other decision is biased.

And yes, Mooney wasn't checked much, but it clearly and significantly changed his lateral movement and prevented him from filling the hole that Hosking goes through.

The rule isn't, "was it a big obstruction?"

Channel 9, mainly because of Gould, is a classic for wanting to throw the rules out for some vague and subjective interpretation of the "spirit of the game". IDK why they do it, to fill dead air with mindless, contrived controversy? But it's actually not good for the game because now the Raiders fans feel hard done by when they weren't.

I hate sometimes how obstructions are interpreted even the petty ones but the Raiders, quite a few times had gotten in their own way attacking the line with their runners messing up and were probably lucky it didn’t happen earlier. Even actually Papali

You ask ten different refs their opinion live you probably get half one way and half the other lol.
We have seen them let go but that one wasn’t as blatant as others

Yeah it was Johns that was actually whinging the most about the decisions for some reason

IMO Joey was terribly biased in his early commentary career; he now goes so far out of his way to "not be biased" against teams that play the Knights and Blues, he at times sounds ridiculous.
Yeah he does, but he also craps on almost as much as Gould about the refs sometimes. The pair of them together are an absolute punish

Holbrook said in the presser that he thought Frizz turned the game around "almost single-handedly" - maybe just said it because he was sitting right beside Frizz - but seemed pretty happy with Frizz - and everyone else too.

Was a very strong effort by all, thought we was in trouble down 6-0 early on but kept them scoreless for a long time after while we piled on some nice tries.
All round big team effort led by JSaf, big game by Gagai, Sharpe and Hunt who continues with big strong effort at 100 mph. Pack was good though Saulo seemed short on minutes but then JSaf seemed to play long.
Tries by our wingers Young and Marzhew, 2 each, strong efforts along with some nice touches by Smith and Graham and let’s not forget Crossland big try.
Very enjoyable win

I saw the same thing. Frizz did single-handedly change the game with a couple of hard runs in particular. Forgetting his offloads and some heroic defence

Also for those who attended the game, anyone notice how they don’t play Morgan Evan’s “Long Live the Newcastle Knights” after they won? Same with how they don’t play “Better” by the Screaming Jets when the Knights run onto the field in the first half.

What a player Hunt is becoming. Not sure when he’s locked up to but I imagine he’ll have a place in the team for years to come. He is so ballsy and the negatives in his game will get ironed out week by week with more confidence. Another wirey competitor just like Sharpe.

At this stage I’ll even give him a pass where he has games like today from the back, nothing overly costly, safe hands, find gaps where you need to and not overplay your hand. He’s not gonna be the gamebreaker or ball player Ponga is but if he has his usual safe carries in the mean time I’ll take it

Compare that to the Raiders back three who were woeful and probably cost them a few tries

Both Hunt at fullback and Sharpe at five eighth seem to be improving in their positions each passing week. They will be unstoppable by the end of the season at this rate 😁
