2026 Season

If this was meant to make me feel better Slots, it hasn’t. 🥲
Well at the end of last season we were the worst team. Having four teams we can point to and say yep we’re obviously better than them, is progress.

Honestly you’ve got Penrith and Melbourne at the top, looks like the Wahs this year too, and then Brisbane are bipolar but at their best look almost unstoppable. You’ve got the absolute **** **** teams at the bottom. And then a looooong peloton of mediocrity in the middle. We don’t yet know where we fall in said peloton. It all sounds like progress to me.

Only really quibble with the Raiders. Find it hard to associate the word "stable" with them. They're more emotional than I am!

I know a Raiders fan who had supreme confidence they'd be immediately better without Jamal Fogarty before the season started, who's already in full-on wrist-slashing mode about them so far, take that for data lol (and also about the back to back losses in the arm wrestle, their game is really built around physicality). Think he was underrating how much of their game plan & honestly also their red zone attack came from his kicking game.

Gordy has really lost it; he's still chirping away at the Broncos now on the Te'o issue, whilst presumably having nothing to do with it and while being fanatically involved with a different club. Tallis even admits that Madge invited him to Red Hill to see what's going on there, but he declined. Tallis has really not covered himself in glory.

Regardless of dramas at Red Hill, it's another example of self-dealing that constantly goes on in the NRL. Eg. A mate of Kevvy's who has a financial interest at another club constantly attacking the Broncos from his media platform, or Briath commenting on contracts as a player manager as if he has no vested interest or Gould using his media platform to criticise the tactics of a club playing the club that he is the CEO of...none of it is good for the game.

Gotta say this game Manly v Rosters is how every NRL game should be officiated. Minimal stoppages two teams just duking it out.

Don’t know who the ref is but should be applauded.

Manly have been significantly worse tonight than they were against us. Won’t get a mention though.

Can I hire Ben Teo’s publicist? Anyone who’s watched the Broncos tackle the last 2 years wouldn’t give their defence much praise but apparently Teo is responsible for their success and it’s Madge’s fault that he threw the toys out of the cot.

It's getting weird at Manly, the club overruled the independent Dr and hooked Jurbo for a cognitive test.

I agree with James Maloney that Jake is not the problem at Manly but on other hand he does really look like he's a shadow of the player he once was. He'd be struggling to make the forward rotation let alone the bench at most NRL clubs based on current form ....maybe the Knights.

Jokes aside, not wanting to start a conspiracy theory but is the club trying to soft quit Jurbo? Maybe they should have sat him down after his last major head knock and talked to him about medical retirement.

PS. It definitely could be that the club was just being extra cautious with a player with a history of head knocks which really is a good thing...but it didn't feel like that.

All that booing and DCE has the last laugh.

Crowd got their vocal cords nice and warm though so I guess there is that
Best of both worlds, DCE being booed and cheered whenever he got crunched in a tackle but Manly losing.
Felt like they had a fair crack because it was against DCE. Not that they’ve had an easy draw but they’ve also played them all at home.
Badly beaten up the middle and games like these ones really show when you don’t have wingers who get good metering post contact

Yeah I’m more inclined to be a bit cynical and it’s kind of hard to miss that Jurbo makes $1 million a season and never runs the ball. You can see his teammates rolling their eyes at him as he tries to rev them up & lay down the law. If they had grounds to medically retire him they absolutely would.

Either way, just sad to see how he is playing atm. He seems such a gentleman when commentators speak with him and he loves the club. But whatever happens, health is the most important thing.

Most likely the club is being extra cautious, but its also a free interchange for 15 minutes as well. That may also factor into it

It also doesn’t help their meters when they keep using Paseka as a decoy. He’s the biggest guy in the team
