NRL Round 4- Bulldogs Vs Knights - 3:00pm Saturday, 28th March - Accor Stadium

After a deeply disappointing loss to the Warriors, we have a week to prepare to face the undefeated Bulldogs (2 wins and a bye) away.

Holbrook will be again be sweating on the fitness of Sharpe. In addition Gagai and possibly Mooney could be suspended.

We will need to vastly improve our ball security and find a way to combat the Dogs swarming defence.

Discuss.

I feel like the only one not disappointed. That’s the first time in a long time a good team has come to Newcastle and taken us seriously.

Those teams that were flogging us in the back half of season legitimately were not even trying, Parramatta excepted.

Can't see us winning, we probably start ok but then drop the ball etc etc.....rinse and repeat.

I'm so deflated already, sick of injuries cruelling us every year.
I can’t see us winning either. The team crumpled under the pressure yesterday, we need to manage it much better.

The injuries to Ponga, Smith and Sharpe have blown away our confidence and strike power.

Agreed. Exactly what everyone expected 3 weeks ago, got beaten convincingly through the middle. The reality is we have the worst pack in the comp and the attacking brilliance of a few individuals has helped keep that deficit mitigated the first two rounds. In addition we’ve seemingly played the worst two teams to start.

Mcewen, hopwood, esl as well as our backup hooker and outside backs are all a year off being proper first graders. Still all growing into their frames and learning to defend at a first grader level.

The positivity in all of this is next year with one or two tactful additions we’ll be in a really competitive spot

Honestly if we can just hold onto the ball we will give them a good challenge, yes they will kick us into corners and the probably keep us pinned in our half for a good while its just what they do to every team but I think we get rid of the silly errors we are in for a chance.
Our defence is actually pretty good and the dogs attack has been a bit lacking this year.
We still have some of the best attacking backs in the game who are also amazing at yardage. We do all the little things and Smith doesnt take the wrong options we have a chance.

call me crazy but I give us a chance here. Dogs attack is mud again this year, probably aided by AOB haha. They only score about 14 on average, so if we can get a bit more field possession against their smaller, lighter pack than I think we can win this. Having Sharpe back would help.

Warriors are a better team than the Bulldogs.
If we can cut out the errors, cut out the brain snaps and get some fair officiating, we have a real chance

If we don‘t give away so many penalties and six agains then the forwards might have some gas to have a crack (except Mcewen, he is lazy and needs glue on his hands). We were playing on borrowed time from the 20 min mark.
And Smith needs to have a defender on his hip inside our 20.

Was reported that Refs were instructed to come down hard on illegal play especially early to set the standard, if you have the ball you will get the penalties requiring the defending side to DEFEND, outcome tired outfit defending, no comeback, fatigue especially against a strong big side.
Obviously early possession was critical and the damage was done
