I’m getting more confident as the week goes on. Which means I’m primed to have my optimism crushed by a poor performance.

It feels like a long time ago, but our squad was not putting in for the old coach and we had many of our best out injured.
Teams generally want to put in their best effort for a new coach, and we have our best possible squad on the park.
The trials meant nothing.
The coach used them as genuine trials and just had a look at a few combinations and got a few guys match fit.
In short, if the guys can't at least show some positive signs today, it's going to be a long year.
In the words of the old movie - this is as good as it gets.

New spine players (some out of position), KP coming back from injury is usually garbage for a month, weak pack. My expectations are in the toilet so as long as we're not embarrassed and beaten 20+ I won't be too upset.

Did you see their missed tackles? They had like 50+. The issue the knights had in that trial was holding onto the ball.
They have crazy amounts of missed tackles every game
Their defensive system is all about scramble

No coach goes into a season with scramble defence as their go to, the very term of scramble defence suggests the other team has broken their line which also suggests the other team did something good to make them use their scramble defence.
Not like they are splitting the middle and saying “come on through” than take them once they are 10 metres through.
They have really good scramble defence but it’s not the go to method for any team it’s a backup for if the other team breaks their actual defence structure

The Cowboys can’t defend but we know they can attack.
We don’t know what the hell the Knights can do. On paper, I think the Knights should win. It will be one of the few games

That's my big hope. I don't know if they'll necessarily hit the ground running tomorrow, but if they stay on the field for an extended amount time, I don't see why we can't beat a lot of teams through the year.
For the first 3 quarters of the season, you would describe us as a team with a negative game plan that wouldn't work against the better teams, but having the likes of Ponga and Sharpe on the field meant we were always a chance. We have to remember, we ended up playing a lot of football without them to end the season.
Unfortunately we finished last and there's nothing we can say that will convince anyone that we can get off the bottom. We just have to cop it. I'm praying we embarrass a few people this season.
Yeah, same man. Emailed/rang the Knights for nil result, rang Nex who said to ring the Knights. I still have the email confirmation so I'm going to give that a go. If it does work out for us, feel free to say g'day, I'll be the one in the Knights jersey.

I’ve heard media guys (e.g Kempy) talk about Dolphins and Souths injuries last year and how much better they will, be but not the Knights. I don’t get it. I’d argue we suffered just as bad an injury toll. Our injuries were all the best players in our side for almost half the season.

IF and it’s a big IF at this stage, Sharpe can eventually become a competent half, then Brown can switch to his favoured left side of the field.
