2025 Season

Pezet has been a game manager and playmaker since he was 14 in Mathews.
Most of his firstgrade games he has been playing second fiddle to other playmakers, but the last few he has been "the guy", and that's what he does, and that's what we need.

Pezet doesn’t want to be here and his manager Anastasia doesn’t want him to be here. We have crossed that bridge a long time ago.
But buy, we need someone like him at the Knights right about now.

The ship has sailed with Pezet after late last year's failed negotiations.

As far as I can see, he's looking for a club and he is the player we need.
Only egos getting in the way, and Parr is very good at putting his ego aside for the right outcome.

Even if we didn’t have all that money invested in Brown already, the offer Jonah turned down from us is about what considerably more proven players like Jamal Fogarty and, whatever you may think of him, Luke Brooks, took from Manly. It was a great offer. Which indicates he very specifically doesn’t want to be a Newcastle Knight. If you want to change that, build a time machine.

POS didn’t go after any halves through 2024, waiting for his chance to talk to Jonah. Jonah knocked us back. Peter has since picked up Brown and went HAM boosting the halves stocks in reggies and lower grades. He’s moved on. Even if we were still interested in Jonah, he’s going to be available for 2026-7, which won’t line up with the Knights having the cap space available as long as Kalyn is still here. Picking up Hunter, Arthur, potentially Sandon Smith, that kid from the Roosters etc reads like giving the club a surfeit of options so we’re prepped for Kalyn leaving and Fletcher taking over at fullback - from 2028 on. Wrong timeline for Jonah now.

If you don’t believe in Brown/Sharpe/Ponga as a combination, I don’t blame you. If we get Sandon Smith the thing you’ll have to take solace in is the club will have the option to bail out of said spine, move a proven half into the halves, and then I guess play Fletcher at wing or centre until Kalyn’s contract ends.

Hard to say he’ll he top line given how good some of the halves are right now & how hard it is to be at that level consistently. But he looks very assured and confident. I suspect he’ll end up at the Bears. If not there, he’d be a great fit at the Cowboys or Bunnies but I don’t think they have the cap space in either case. For obvious reasons he’d also be a fit at the Dragons or Titans but gee if he ends up at either of those clubs that’s quite telling about how much he hates us šŸ˜†

It's going to be hard for either of those new clubs to attract players long term, they might be quite transient. 3 hour flights a couple of times a week for the Perth side or commune living in png will wear a few down I reckon.

Actually it’s worse. The flight time from Sydney to Perth is 5 hours and 5 minutes.

Flight to Perth is a lot longer than the flight from Perth to Sydney - prevailing wind goes west to east - so into the wind all the way there - big tail wind all the way back.
Perth to Sydney can be as short as 3 hours if you get a big tail wind.
Last time I went was 4 and a half hours there and a bit over 3 back.
