Sack Adam O’Brien

Long time lurker on this forum, but love the chats. Just wanted to give my 2 cents for anyone defending AOB.

We have had the softest draw out of near any team in the comp, and the team has just looked poor all year. When you look at our wins they have been either atrocious performances or against soft opposition:

  • Tigers- genuinely horrible performance, granted early season, but just got the win in a terrible performance
  • Rabbitohs and panthers - both against massively understrength teams. Well done we can beat NSW Cup teams.
  • Sea eagles- flukey win against a rubbish team after throwing the ball around for the second half
  • Dolphins- two good wins, near only thing to cheer about all year

Rest of year has been terrible, AOB’s team selections and game plans have been just pathetic. I’ve never been more bored by a team in my life.

For anyone defending AOB, get real, he’s gonna come up with the same rubbish moving forward, no matter who runs out. I mean the goddamn Rabbitohs, with their injuries, will finish higher than us, and we’ve lost to the titans twice. How low are ur expectations?

Finally, well done to anyone who’s been to the games this year. I like u will support them to the death, but my word it’s hard to keep faith with this inept fool in charge.
Nice post Snowy.

Wanna drop a “you know nothing, Jon Snow”, but I can’t, really good takes mate

The question is why do we have such a poor roster and an inability to attract decent players at market value?

A few reasons.

We’ve always historically had to pay extra to get players being out of Sydney.

Then we completely ruined our salary cap by paying so many average players twice was they’re worth.

Promising signs so far that POS will help us with the second issue, but the first one will still be there. We’re always going to have to pay overs to get players here. Hopefully we can save a bit though on guys like Gagai and Friz who don’t want to leave.

I got some inside knowledge, AOB will go at the end of the season if not after this game. Blake green will be interim for the rest of the season. Josh Hannay is highly likely to be our next coach. This has come from someone employed by the club.
I hope your mate has the good oil!

While the pessimist in me doubts another rookie coach, I look forward to seeing how he goes if this is true.
Hopefully he knows how to get in the players headspace before anything else

We only have 2 games after this weekend’s game, so it will not make much of a difference if he is sacked next week or at the end of the season.

As long as he is sacked before next season.

So you are saying players would prefer to live in Penrith, Caterbury, Parramatta and Canberra etc than Newcastle. Not so sure about that. I don't believe we have historically had to pay extra for players. It's only since we have become cellar dwellers with little or no hope of premiership success has this trend started.

Many Sydney players don’t want to move away from home, particularly when they would have to play for a struggling club.

Most Penrith/Bulldogs/Eels players don’t live in those areas, and the ones that do are usually from the area with family. Canberra have historically had just as hard or harder time than us recruiting.

We’ve been cellar dwellers for 20 years so it’s pretty much the new normal.

To be honest I’m a bit sick of getting my hopes up about it. There seems to be a new bit of info coming out every week about him being sacked but it doesn’t happen. I’m not going to believe anything until there’s a statement from the club.

How dare you sir, I refuse to get my hopes up again only for them to be dashed upon the rocks of despair!

Great news.

What do we know about Josh Hannay?
