Men’s State of Origin Game 3 2025 - The Blues Vs The Maroons - 8:05pm Wednesday 9th July - Accor Stadium

NSW had 10 forward passes let go in that first half alone and a couple of offsides. If it was rigged which I keep hearing on all social media it wasn’t to leverage a win for QLD that’s for certain. NSW completion rate and possession was outstanding but Queenslands was just about as perfect as you could ask at that level. They wanted it more and shut down the strike weaponry which NSW has across the park. I tipped NSW as I figured a sure win.

QLD atrocious in game one, great in one half in game 2 and terrible the next half. It wasn’t the penalty count that lost NSW the series it was Zack Lomaxs missed kicks in game 2. That’s it.

Both sides were shocking for one and a half games haha. Not the greatest series, it seemed like the two sides couldn’t put their best foot forward at the same time - one side was always well off the pace.

The worst part about last night's result, described as one of the worst Origin performances ever, is that we will likely have to go through another Origin series with Daley's poor coaching and decision-making. If there was a plan B employed last night to stop the bleeding and get NSW back into it, I fail to see what it was.

NSWRL should have the guts to admit they got it wrong, that the Origin team needs to be coached by a professional coach. They should also get rid of the silly rule that says a club coach can't be the Origin coach. That's literally how they got limited to the choice of another media identity.

IDK what was in this for Daley. Redemption? IDK how he could have thought that was a possibility, given that on the face of it, last night and this series look like 2017 redux. Loz hasn't spent the years since his last stint coaching or studying to be a coach, apparently, and it showed.

There is only one thing worse than the Blues being comprehensively beaten by Queensland, and that is Daley not realising that he is part of the problem and quitting as coach and that team for next year needs to be picked on form not reputation.

The NSWRL needs to SACK DALEY NOW!

The series loss SHOULD lead to bit of a clean slate. Perhaps wishful thinking.

I hate the phrase, and know it’s a cliche but Queensland just get origin and what it’s about.

They just have so many good habits and 1%ers they just pull off these wins.

I wouldn’t wish it upon anybody, but to see Munster and Billy at the end of that game was very heartwarming. I can’t see Laurie doing to the same to an NSW player in the same circumstance, and that’s not meant to be a slight against Laurie, more speaking to the relationship Billy has built with his players. Think Billy inspires, mentors and coaches his teams.

I think Madge had the right approach. Tore up the ‘rule book’ on what we had been doing. Selected a few on form over reputation and seemed to build a resilient fighting team. We regressed.

We relied too much on individual talent - these guys are all brilliant players, but maybe they don’t really feel they have to prove themselves at origin level, I don’t know.

Paul "Crawls" Crawley, despite listing a slew of things that Daley got wrong, that were so obvious that even someone as dim as him could see them, says, "Now is not the time to sack Daley*"! And that BS is an example of the sunk cost fallacy in action.

Zero Tackle, on the other hand, is saying he should be sacked for his atrocious use of the bench:

NSW, despite being gassed and needing a shake-up to get back into the game, were late in getting their subs on, put Stefano on over Spencer when NSW needed a spark and only used 6 of the 8 interchanges allowed, whereas QLD used all of theirs.

Daley should be sacked because:
- He already has a significant record of failure as Origin coach
- Last night was arguably one of NSW's worst performances ever
- He got several key selections wrong again, including Max King and Stefano
- He played several players injured, and their lack of preparation, coordination, chemistry, and effort showed
- His use of the bench was atrocious, not used early enough, not the right players, didn't use all his changes
- NSW didn't look like they had a game or a plan B. He had no response to QLD's up and in defence
- Daley's time spent between this Origin stint and his previous one has been spent spruiking gambling. He is not a coach

I know Daley deserves much respect for his playing career, but if we're not going to be here again in 12 months, the NSWRL need to realise their error, bite the bullet and be ruthless. I have no doubt QLD would be in similar circumstances.

Interesting stat, of the Blues last 7 fixtures, Moses has played four. All wins. The other three have been losses.

2026 team (allowing for injuries):

1. Ryan Papnehyuzen
2. Brian To’o
3. Latrell Mitchell
4. Stephen Crichton
5. Jacob Kiraz
6. Isaiya Katoa
7. Mitchell Moses (c)

13. Cameron Murray (Cameron McInnes if Murray not fit)
12. Jacob Preston
11. Dylan Lucas
10. Mitchell Barnett
9. Wayde Egan
8. Payne Haas

14. Connor Watson
15. Hudson Young
16. Isaah Yeo
17. Spencer Leniu

18. Bradman Best

Cam Smith still hates NSW getting a penalty, and that was a clear penalty Mann is making no effort to clear the ruck, NSW is obstructed.
I see this type of stalling in the play the ball by the Dogs who take an age to get off the attacking player. Some teams seem to get away with it, others don’t.
What happened the the refs call of “roll away”.

Let's face it, Nathan's leg could be hanging by a thread, and Loz is still picking him.

The one I still don't get is Stefano, who Bellamy has struggled to get right for club football, being selected for Origin. It's like the anti-Shiba selection. Shiba has come from nowhere career-wise but has been dominating in his position, he's been good even when the Broncos have been bad...Stefano, on the other hand, not so much.
