2026 Recruitment And Retention

Now that the mid season transfer of Riley Jones did not occur, I assume his manager try to get Cronulla or one of the other NRL clubs to sign him for next year.

It’s a pity he is so tall, otherwise he would have made a good hooker.
 
The Jones transfer did in fact go through according to the Telegraph.

Also from the Telegraph's recap of the June 30 deadline: "A host of clubs including the Knights inquired about the prospect of landing Canberra forwards Trey Mooney and Pasami Saulo. Canberra had no interest in letting either player go mid-year."
 
Yeah would have to break co tract, which is t a shock but being top of ladder and Papai ’li leaving opportunity arises.

Of the off contract forwards still I’d like to get Joliffe/kerr/Mariota/ Bullemore

Any two of those would be great signings. I’ve always thought Mariota has another level in him, he just doesn’t have a huge role with that stacked Raiders pack. Joliffe would be a very consistent starting calibre prop, Kerr and bullemore would be great impact forwards.

Trey Mooney is an odd one. He’s got amazing potential but for some reason has stagnated in terms of development. Even with their stacked back I thought he would have played more first grade by now.

Thing is it’s been speculated for a few seasons now he’ll get more game time but doesn’t. They went with a guy on debut over him last week. He wouldn’t be feeling confident of getting more of a run next year regardless of Papa leaving when he’s seemingly being lapped in the pecking order by debutants. They were also going hard to sign Leo. They didn’t get him but if you’re Mooney you wouldn’t be sitting there thinking the coach has a heap of faith in you.

In Toohey's article this week he says there are only two spots free if Friz and Gags re-sign. Wonder who is missing?
 
Betting they keep Mason Teague. So he could be one.

Edit: Although haven't they signed Peter Hola for 2026? So, likely he's 26. Teague getting re-signed might depend on whether Friz stays.

Wondering if POS keeps the finals spots open for as long as possible to see what eventuates.

Teagues a bit small. I think he ends up in SL
