2026 Recruitment And Retention

It will be interesting if Galvin is released early...there will be a lot of banging on by the usual one-brain cell pundits at Fox (*cough* Crawley *cough*) about "Player loyalty" despite clubs seeking to shift on players all the time...IDK that anyone in this saga comes out with their heads held high. Moses' influence in the game has to be a concern.

The best part will be the Knights' getting their act together starting this weekend and squeezing past the Tigers into the 8 by the end of the season. 🤞

I would be proud of the tigers if they do release him tbh there is absolutely no guarantee he will kick on injuries, dumb decisions by him and his management and family etc. this way they keep the fainu brothers and are free of a 19 year old that is kicking up a stink.

Sorry, should have said I have been told by a source he's going to be released
Well if it’s true he’s off to the Eels, I suspect there’d have to be an immediate pay rise as part of that. So yeah they may want to release Brown. Also wouldn’t make sense to keep Dylan because the smart thing to do would be immediately pivot to the Moses/Galvin halves combo they’ll have for the next 5 years or so.

Not to defend Moses who’s obviously a snake, but the only reason we know about this saga at all was the immature and petulant statement put out by the Tigers. Richo having a dummy spit about Lachie turning them down. The stuff about Galvin not believing in Benji has been Galvin’s camp attempting to set the record straight.

Tigers just released Galvin.... expected to sign with eels in 48 hours....does this mean brown comes here ?
Hasn’t happened. They just dropped him to reserve grade.
Eels , Dogs and Roosters probably in the running to sign him if he is released early

I don't agree with the tigers releasing that low energy statement, but it was in response to the story already being out there in the media.

Isaac Moses 101 - introduction to getting your client an early release
Are you sure about that timeline? As far as I can see the Tigers put their statement out a full day before we heard anything from Galvin.

Unless you’re saying they knew the story was coming and so Richo rushed to get the statement out?

Hopefully doesn’t affect the chasing of Finau Latu who would have been more priority I would think but King-Togo was meant to be the target after Hastings and maybe if club has way Cogger gone and also Linnane going to Warriors so interesting to see who next targets are or does the likes of Fletcher Hunt or similar just get promoted

I’ve seen people suggest Brown early and to that I say SALARY CAP, I’m pretty sure the Knights have stated they don’t want him early and can’t even afford it at the moment.

Unless they get a deal where Parra agrees to pay like 60% until next year (they won’t) or if the NRL will allow the Knights to only pay a little bit of his pay for this year and have the full effect on the cap in 2026 (they definitely won’t).

It’s not gonna happen and if it does I’ll eat my own shoe.

100%, Moses' behaviour doesn't give the Tigers an excuse for also behaving poorly.

Galvin played well for them on the w/e and they won a game they were underdogs for...surely the Tigers' focus should be on winning games and making their first finals in years...not punishing Galvin because he doesn't want to stay at the Tigers.

This has been badly handled from the start on both sides and is cringe worthy for all involved, poorly handled by Moses, his agent and Tigers management and should have been clarified by Marshall, Head Coach.
Galvin didn’t need to extend contract if wanting to leave at end of current contract, play on, selected on form, Tigers continue winning games, possible top 8 finish and who knows Galvin decides to stay.
If Galvin is determined to move on then Tigers look elsewhere, within or out..
If as reported both co-captains, ex Penrith were instrumental in wanting him banned then they should look within, left successful club for another, forewarned they were leaving, no change in playing groups attitude to them, finished playing with Panthers and crossed over to Tigers with best wishes, I would think, from former players and club, why not reciprocate Galvin is young, unexperienced in negotiations and takes advice from his Manager who looks after his interest and obviously his own.
Bottom line, Galvin doesn’t want to play for Tigers beyond contract end, his option, choice, negotiations can continue until other Clubs are allowed to bid. He advices Tigers of his intent to sign elsewhere when the agreement date is reached and Tigers make bids for replacement and until that time they all play on with the intent to making/winning a GF. No hard feelings, no anamosity, it’s happened 100s of times before.
Feel sorry for Galvin, think he has been caught in a mess by his naivety and the greed and stupidity of those involved, he seems a talented player that will forever remembered for this farce in much the same manner as DCE all those years ago.

Being happy about the Galvin demise because it might mean we get Brown early is selfish, it most likely will not happen this season, if it does I will be unhappy due to the circumstances.
Brown is here in 2026 and other actions fortunate or not should not change the outcome

I don’t think there’s anybody that would be too mad at him if he had of just come out and said, “I think I’m gonna go to November 1, test the market and see what offers come my way”. Players move on for big money deals or to “test the market” all the time - think most people understand that.

I think it was the comments about the club, team and coach that rubbed everyone the wrong way and offended the “senior players”. Club probably poured some petrol on the fire instead of water with their initial statement. Then Galvin and management saw the big bonfire and chucked their crate of fireworks in.

He’s 19, requested a release last year, has rejected a very good deal for his future and doubled down on the rumours saying he doesn’t think he can improve at the Tigers. All while he still has 18 months left on his contract.

Tigers are rebuilding. They are trying to do what the Dogs have done. They need buy in and positive people. I think he’s shown he is too young/immature to keep him and play out the next 18 months. You’re developing a player for somebody else.

I think his management should come under some fire from NRL. They obviously have had some conversations. They’ve taken a football/EPL contract approach of making it hostile to agitate a release. You don’t do that unless you’ve got some strong mail of another offer or two.

Andre and Kalyn - this is the end of the post. Stop reading here.

Seriously…stop.

If Kalyn came out today and said the same thing about the Knights, I think there would be a large portion that would be calling for him to be released. Similar to Galvin, given them the opportunity (and $$$) to develop, next 5 years has them as a focal point of club plans, talented and liked by fans. To hear that would be an untenable relationship.

Bit of a different scenario with Kalyn . He has given us how many years ? . Club has had heaps of time to make us a premiership threat . If he waits till November I don't think we will even be coming off a top eight finish . To me he owes us nothing !Evan more upside with the tigers than us at the moment .

Yes. I agree, he’s given us some of his best years. We’ve also given him a large portion of our $$$.

I guess my point was more that if you bag out the club - you offend the coach, the players and the fan base, it agitates and points towards a release from current contract.

If you just “go to market” - it’s much more palatable for everyone and most players/clubs are mature enough to see out the current contract.

Exactly sometimes I'm sure he has thought it 😀But if he came out & publically bagged team & coach . See you latter!

Look with the way teammates are publicly bagging the kid on their socials, you’d have to imagine this has been simmering for a while. Hard not to get a picture of Galvin as a young man with a swollen head. He’s 19 years old, peak “arrogant little ****” age, and that’s before people in the press are calling him the Jesus of rugby league in the media all the time.

But by the same token Luai and Koroisau have repeatedly acted incredibly immaturely through their whole careers and never grown out of it as far as I can see, they just get better press because 1. Api really is that good and 2. Jarome happened to be on the field when Penrith won four premierships. That means they can never be questioned as blokes and leaders apparently.

And worst of all to me are Richo - that club statement is embarrassing - and Moses. Richo is an old pro who should know better by now and Moses is a stain on the game who should have been put down like the dog he is years ago.

Everyone sucks here. That’s my feeling about it basically.

Except Tyrell May ironically, the guy Easts punted because they thought he was too much of an immature ****head. Haven’t heard a peep out of him.
