2025 Recruitment And Retention

We'd still be paying Leo half of what other clubs think he is worth and about 2/3rds of what he is actually worth.

The 6 million dollars might help him rest a bit easier.
Haha, true.

I do think the easier road would have just been hanging around at Penrith (still on a good wicket), and then he'd have a job for life when he retired I'm sure.

He's also made sure he's got get out clauses from the Wests deal after two years, but that maybe just shows that he's sane. If he plays good but they still suck, someone else will come up with a million bucks for him from 2027-on I'm sure.

We should sign cheese as a middle
Hmm, that's interesting. His value is dropping by the day. I thought he stay in Melbourne and play 13 but I'm not sure he wanted that. Covers 9 as well. Could play with Elliot on the field as well. Would probably be worth what we were offering Leo but a different style player. I think that is worth keeping an eye on.

I’m not sure if it was on here but with the Bulldogs allegedly asking about Votano and since he is blocked by Ponga and Sharpe, do we ask for a superstar trade, no doubt Votanos potential is huge so why not trade a superstar for another like let’s say Mitch Wood?.

They have Tia and O’Neil, we need a half and they need a fullback i know it seems crazy because of the status of Wood but Votano is seen as a rising star himself. Why not at least test the waters.

Hard to compete when his girl is from Canberra
He's a professional athlete, there's people with family all over in a similar situation, if you can get good money playing somewhere close to what you call home, then great.

But a lot of players don't and have to up root and change clubs regularly.

Yeah, Leo is joining the Raiders (or the Dogs) because he's a middle forward and he's just hit the jackpot. If his girlfriend's family is in the same town I'm sure that's just something he'll have to put up with....:)

Edit: And out from his slumber under the Roosters' salary sombrero pops Uncle Nick with a late bid (according to Fox Sports)

If Leo’s a professional, he still has plenty to offer us. The benefit he could bring, outweighs the whole ‘we are just developing him for somebody else’.

But if he’s brining a circus to training/the team or phoning it in. See ya. Or go play in cup for a year to ‘develop a better attitude’ (or at least that’ll be what we tell RLPA).

Players are starting to cotton on that if they agitate, they get the move.

Not sure we could get similar value at 350K. I’d be open to a trade of some type with whoever he signs for, especially if they kick in some $$$ for whoever we get.
Value how, though? He fortifies our squad for 25' ?

The value we need is medium to long term. And his vacancy hurts us.

FFS!!!! ARRRGGGGGGHH I HATE THEM SO MUCH!!

Who knows, the Roosters get linked with everybody.

The talking heads could be linking the fact Roosters have let some players go, with players available and well they must be interested.

i doubt the Roosters would be offering a FRF 900k a year. Its not what they do. But 600k and 300 under the table. i could believe that haha

Pezet was never coming.
Pleased we didn’t get into a massive bidding war for him either.

Hopefully we blood a few more young blokes and further develop some of the others we already have next year. 2026 we will be one of the beefiest clubs, perhaps THE healthiest financially with positions to fill and some massive movement for Newcastle in the signings department. Everyone who has jumped ship can sit on a pencil
