Australian Rugby League Hall of Fame and Immortals

Must have had a kiwi quota to appease our friends from across the Tasman with those selections. Looks like it is the Hall of The Very good these days...Like most of them...
Replying to a five year old comment, but how can anyone say Stacey Jones and Ruben Wiki don't deserve to be there ...

I am too young to have ever seen him play but Les Boyd seems like he had mates on the committee. Relatively short career in Aus, debuted in 1976, last season in 1984 with it seems like about 2 years out of the game in between with suspensions.
I was definitely surprised to see his name ... he's in the Suspension Hall of Fame though.

Cameron Smith is apparently the favourite to be named the 14th Immortal tonight. A bit of chat about Ron Coote potentially being named as well.

If you asked me about seven years ago I would have bet on JT being elevated the moment he was eligible, I feel like there was a lot of chat in that direction. Certainly has died down.

I have to say Lockyer would have been my pick. Feels far too soon for Smith or any of the other Melbourne players to be admitted.

Thurston doesn't even seem to be in the picture anymore! I guess that's the thing, you need a few year's distance to judge a career. If it was up to me I'd make it a minimum of ten years retired from professional league before you could be considered.

I agree with you James. I would vote for Lockyer. It feels like the right time.

I can’t pretend I’ve gone back and watched a lot of footage of Kenny or Sterling or whoever as a point of comparison though.

No, I’m the same, they were before my time and I’ve only seen fleeting highlights. So I’m just commenting on 1992 onwards! haha

I kind of hope that Cooper Cronk comes up in the discussion in years to come, I think he was an amazing player! He won so many grand finals and steared so of the best teams we might ever see

Congratulations Coote 👏
I only know him by name but just reading up on his stat's and his accomplishments he definitely earned the right to be an immortal

Agree, thoroughly deserved. Not just for his exemplary playing record and career, but also for his tireless charity work with Men of League supporting ex players and their families doing it tough.
A true hard man from a very tough era, but a gentleman as well. Great to see another forward chosen to be an immortal as well…..

Unlike Les Boyd who was just a thug and a grub, and his name should be nowhere near the HOF.
