Cleary definitely a tough act to follow though. We now know he’s an elite coach if it was in doubt then. I think they were about as good in that first season under Madge and then yeah the drill sergeant routine wore thin.

I don’t know if he’s mellowed though. It’s not impossible. He’s found a very good balance between gameplan and letting the boys play to their strengths in rep footy. A lot less rigidity than he was known for. Maybe easier to take that approach with elite players though.

I’ll say this: he’s fantastic at bench management.

Well I think they’re looking at overhauling it a bit.

DSaf, Brailey, Hetho, Elliott, Frizell, Gagai and Hastings all likely leaving at the end of current deals if not next season IMO. All likely to be replaced with young players.

Cat is out of the bag that the club wants Jonah back and I think they will play him and Gamble together for a season as Votano is groomed to play five-eighth.

Pretty substantial changes and if there’s a time to make a change in the coach’s box it’s the end of this season for mine.

It sounds so simple to say but getting a good vibe around the place is more than half the battle. Especially with a young group.
 
My pick’s still Steve McNamara despite already having Brian McDermott as an assistant coach. A former England head coach and an assistant at the Roosters and NZ Warriors in the past and currently doing wonders at Catalans, even though he signed an extension with the French based team, he still has a desire to coach in the NRL. It kind of baffles me why poms are being overlooked for NRL head coaching roles as it’s been nearly 30 years since a Pom coached an NRL team (Mal Reilly).
 
Whoever they go with when they eventually see the light and sack him, I hope to God they don't go with another rookie coach. I know the Eels job came down to two first time NRL coaches. Yes, they both have a heap of assistant roles, but so did AOB and look at how that has gone. I don't want a Hannay or any of the many assistants floating around. Looking at how AOB coaches at the moment I reckon Trent Robinson only had him putting out the witches hats and work experience stuff cause he's learnt stuff all.

You can't tell me the Dragons and Dogs have a better roster than us. Yet they are on the up, and we are floundering still.

The issue isn't the players, you can take a bunch of average players and throw in a sprinkling of class in the right roles, and with good coaching and good attitude that team would beat ours most games.

It's a cop out to say our roster isn't up to it!

And we aren't getting Moses, or any other elite level half. They don't come here.

We somehow lucked out getting Ponga through the doors, and then I still don't understand how we kept him away from the Dolphins under Wayne.

We have to make do with the best we can get, and get the best out of them!

Correct, the roster is mostly the same one that went to week 2 of the semi's last year. What has changed is the players attitude and the coaching.

Yep & everyone on here bags Hags . Yes I know he had Joey ( do you think he was easy to manage ?) . At least in them days we played footy . He could of only dreamt of having the resources & facilities that Obi has !
 
I'd be stoked if Moses signed for us. But there'd be more chance in me become a millionaire in the next 12 months than that ever happening.
