NSW CUP 2024

Looks like a stronger cup side than years past. Hopefully there’s some improvement with this squad.

I'd think Jenkins and Moceidreke are more likely to play first grade than him anyway so not sure where he fits in even when healthy

Armstrong is a different style to what we base our game on, but he is the guy who can make a try out of nothing.
On the other hand, Jenkins is potentially one of our best defenders and a decent try scorer.

Armstrong’s best position is full back. He showed he can play wing, however the way he moves he is a natural full back. I believe his build is too slight for wing, as the wingers now are 90kg plus, not 80 kg. The position has changed as they are not just finishers now, their involvement on plays 1-3 is crucial in starting the sets.

I don't know much about him. How old is he?
He played in our Flegg GF loss in 2022, but that was his last game qualified for that level, so 23 this year.
He was Maitland's youngest player when they won the Presidents cup in 2021 and before that came through our junior system as a second row. Last year he was our staring prop for a good part of the season.

He'd be 22/3 now I'd say. He was a Knights junior who disappeared for a year and then found his way back. Played a lot of cup last year and i liked his defence a lot, really dominant on occasions. I suppose he's getting to that point of last chance saloon as far as fg goes, not in front of Su'a or Bryan but won't let anyone down this year.

Yeah Burgess really came along last year when CUP were playing good and went on that winning streak, he and Jenkins really stood up. lots of bending the line and Great D. Hopefully he picks up where he finished last yr and makes an impact. We need it and so does he.

The update for NSW cup says they are 1 to 18 as named, which is impossible because either Cartwright or Jenkins has to be 18th man for firstgrade.

Wouldn’t surprise if they play Cartwright for almost 40 straight in NSW cup and then hook him for second half to get a bit of rest in and to be the 18th man
