As Lord says the Roosters side is hardly stacked atm, it’s starting to look pretty average. I wonder if Young would make the same decision if he was choosing now, having seen how they have traveled this season. (Not saying he’d choose the Knights still haha)

I dunno if it’s complete conspiracy brain dead nonsense, as you say yourself, they have plenty to offer and with managers and team management rubbing shoulders with people in very lucrative positions who’s job it is to make big money through avenues of nepotism. That’s the way the world works. You don’t get picked off the street or through hard earned merit to run serious organisations unless your best mates dad got you that job and you went to a prestigious boys school for 100k a term. That’s why they can offer less on paper, because if you stick around there’s perks worth your while. That’s not conspiracy James it’s fact.

Agreed. But selling the vision is only half of it. Robbo has a stellar record but this year, has failed to deliver. Whatever he sold to Watson hasn't been delivered. Clearly Young is sold on it but I'm not confident for him. I think he'll find his way back to the wing eventually though and kill it there.

Of course but I was replying to a post saying extra money and a free Bondi apartment. And this sort of stuff is posted so much it’s just pointless, so it wasn’t directed just at Jo … build a bridge people!

It’s amazing the players these days that move clubs and never recapture the success they had initially. Brandon Smith definitely one. Sometimes it’s definitely better to stay where things are working.

absolutely agree mate. I think Robbo would say anything to the kids just to get it over the line. Business is business. Watson just went on being Watson - injured, and Dom is modern prototype winger.

As I've said before though his record as a coach is arguable. With the talent at his disposal he should have won more. Even this year, issues aside, he has a talent pool the envy of much of the league.

Bit like Bennett , no argument he is a good coach, but with the SOO sides he had at the Broncos, so he should have won that many Premierships.

Own the businesses, the politicians, and control the flow of information. Nothing keeps the masses more conservative than fear.

The Chinese are coming, the greenies want to take away your hamburgers, and the woke elite want to stop you singing Merry Xmas. Meanwhile they disappear into the sunset with all the money.

Just watched the episode myself and tbh Dom didn’t really say anything that I thought was selfish. He wants to get out of his comfort zone again and move to Sydney. Good luck to him he is only 21 and hopefully when his contract is up he will return to the Knights. It would be a good time to return as KP will be in his prime at 29 and Young will probably be the best winger in the comp by then as well.

Yeah I for sure would never leave the Storm unless it was purely for money. It’s just such a big step down in coaching quality and organisational intelligence to go almost anywhere else, and I absolutely include the Roosters in that.

It’s frustrating given we found and developed him, but he really doesn’t owe us anything besides fulfilling the contract he signed.
 
Marzhew is 26 & has struggled to be a week to week first grader until this year, which maybe points to inconsistent attitude and application in training. I’d just want to see a little more, that his new work ethic and effort would remain the norm, before I handed him a huge wad of cash and a big extension.

He’s been awesome, don’t get me wrong, but i don’t want us to rush into an extension before we absolutely need to.

Bennett is a good coach of good players, and that’s where it ends. Robbo becoming the same.
The really great coach of regular NRL players is Craig Bellamy without a doubt, and his record of finishing high on the table or winning comps is there for all to see.
Bellamy is no show pony.

I'd take Bennett between him and Bellamy. Bennett has done it at two clubs which is pretty rare in itself (is Sheens the only other one who's done it?). Bellamy has won all his premierships with possibly the best play ever in Cam Smith, and a group of other outstanding highly decorated rep stars.

To say Bennett underachieved with the Broncos, he got six premierships in 15 years between 92 and 06 that's pretty damn good. Not forgetting he also set the entire club up from scratch.

Bennett's achievements with Queensland (2001 and 2020) and New Zealand (2008) have also been huge, whereas Bellamy couldn't produce anything at Origin level.

I agree, and Bellamy developed most of those players, unlike Bennett or Robbo who mostly rely on a fat cheque book to buy players on the cusp or highly touted juniors, or established superstars..

Previous to the Rabbits where Bennett had less say over roster management, he had a less than stellar reputation regarding the state he leaves clubs, Broncos, Knights and Saints are examples at hand.

Edit - worth noting both Bellamy and Bennett were coaches at News Ltd franchise clubs, with vast amounts of money above the rest of the competition in off field resources.
