It's mostly Murdoch Entertainment at the forefront of this. Opinion journalism, cheap, nasty, but unfortunately it's what the public crave. Just imagine the quality of human that has to invent that garbage on a daily basis.

I was referring to the attacks or so called advice that the media try and serve up on a bases, they don't do such things to top notch coaches because there clubs ain't run like crap and there coaching is A grade...
Compared to AOB who warrants criticism and advice from any angle even the parasites like journos, because he hasn't got a clue...and frankly he's coaching is on par with there journalism

the business of actually delivering "news" ( informing, educating, stimulating public discourse ) is a secondary concern.

Number #1 is clicks, keep those clicks coming in and advertising $$$ rolling in baby, the bottom line is superyachts and villas in the south of France, while the plebs fight among themselves.

Dont let the truth get in the way of a good story ( $$$$)
 
AOB will almost certainly get the rest of this season or at least most of it.

Now that Holbrook and Hook have been fired, every head coaching job is now secure until I would say at least part way into next season, so if Wests have anyone in mind as AOB’s replacement, we’re not competing with anyone for the moment. The club can be patient, and there’s more or less no history of a caretaker taking over a struggling club and totally turning a season around, so every week they wait is another week where they’re not paying two head coach salaries.

That we’ve gotten a total of 1 competition point from all the 50/50 games we’ve played will be seen as a mitigating factor by Wests, not as a black mark against him.

I think being patient gives the club more time to appraise a potential left field successor, too - Ronnie Griffiths. I know NRLW is lower stakes, but he has more head coaching experience with male players than AOB did when appointed, if less NRL assistant coaching experience, and I would give him top marks in getting buy-in and commitment from his players, which is half the battle. Giving the job to someone in-house would be the only way to replace AOB without that also meaning a total overhaul of staff etc (new head coaches usually like to bring in a lot of their own guys, but the NRLW program uses a lot of the same support staff, so a lot of “Ronnie’s guys” will be people already at the club). The Indigenous all stars fellas were effusive in their praise of him, and I’ve heard people whose opinions I respect identify him as the head coach in the women’s game most likely to transition over to the NRL.

I reckon another stellar season for the NRLW team - and with Millie gone, and CJ moved to an edge, it would be a big tick in his favour, as there’s likely to be a pretty big restructure of the attack, of bench rotations, etc - and you’d have to seriously consider promoting him to the men’s program. Maybe ‘promoting’ is an impolitic word to use, but realistically that’s what it is. He’d work more and make a lot more money.

I wondered at the time when he was appointed if this was a back up plan when AOB put beyond doubt that he isnt a 1st grade head coach.
His resume is as good as any available coaches atm and hes had 6mths or so now to see what needs to be done if given the top job.
 
This side has put in good performances against the Panthers (first game), Broncos, Manly and our wins. But then we dish up performances like the last two weeks. Completions were at 62% against the Panthers with our season on the line. So frustrating for fans and AOB. But if he can’t figure out how to get consistent performances then it’s time. He’s had 3 years.
 
If there is ever an argument about whether we need to change the coach, you just need to look at the Warriors. They were probably worse than us last year and that's an achievement in itself. New coach and suddenly most of them are in career best form. They are massively overachieving on paper. Warriors have always had that attitude problem too but not this year. Its a different mindset I haven't seen from them.

Its also like the new coach has built from the platform that Nathan Brown built 🤔
 
The Knights biggest issue this season really has been the roster. If Miller had kept his early season form up and we had a capable hooker does AOB suddenly become a good coach for getting us some wins? And if we sack AOB, the people in charge of those decisions remain.

Its really frustrating we’ve been losing but I look at our 17 run out each week and our results are pretty much what I expect. I think we’ve actually performed pretty well with the state of the squad. I know that’s a depressing outlook but I also think next year will be a lot better. Hastings getting second year with the team we should see some improvement, hopefully the English boys have an impact l and we’ll see our best leader and hooker back on the park.

He was the perfect appointment for the Warriors. Successful assistant coach at the Panthers, had lower grade head coaching experience, and had spent time at the Warriors before, knew the club culture and what would work there. I’m really happy to see it’s working so well for them.

Don’t think Brown built anything much at the Warriors though. Unlike here where he did leave a good platform.
 
Hopefully the Tele hacks make themselves for once mount a campaign to have AOB sacked. The articles would be easy to write.

Lower grade head coaching experience is important.
AOB has zero.
