Round 7 - Knights V Panthers - Saturday 15 April 5:30pm - McDonald Jones Stadium

I think that was 2019 mate, under Browny, who was the king of mouthing off like we’d just won the comp after every win.
Do you have examples? I personally only remember Browny being quite reserved after wins, talking about how x,y,z needed to be better and what not. Plenty on here criticised him for understating individual player performances. Not saying you're wrong, but I just remember it differently.

In 2020 we belted Canberra and might have gotten a bit ahead of ourselves then too though considering the inconsistency which followed.

We’re yet to have a win where we just beat the breaks off someone for the full 80 - which I think will happen. Will be interested to see the effort levels in the next game after that.
You might be right, I was thinking of the 2019 team. Looking at that year we were on a bit of a run, then backed up that Roosters performance against Souths, they were the games where DSaf really pushed himself into Origin contention. But we totally went off the boil after that.

Super happy with that performance.

Heading to the game was resigned to losing comfortably and being OK with that. But to lead most of the game, score 3 tries to 2, and really only lose due to missed conversions, and a ridiculous high shot penalty on Luai which lead to a try.

I cant say Ive ever heard the Newcastle chant after a loss before.

26000 crowd and the atmosphere was like a finals game.

Loved it, shame we didnt get the points, but loved every minute if the game.

No way We replace Miller, No way Ponga isn't 6.

Gamble will be in team, so will Mann and Crossy.

Jsaf back, Dsaf, unsure about his shoulder, dare say'l he'll play on until bye round.

A bench of

14. Mann
15. Jsaf
16. Croker/hetherington
17. Gamble

Solid bench

I echo your remarks. Loved it. Couldn't sit still the whole game. They are back to back Premiers, with arguably the best half-back in the game, and we scared the crap out of them. We'll be a much better squad when we meet them again in a coupla months at Penrith.

Miller has made a few costly mistakes, but the things he does like bring the ball back off kicks and support play, are things Ponga refuses to do. He just gives us energy and effort that has been missing in past years.
I agree, but the million dollar man slots in somewhere, and I think AOB puts him back at 1 with how Gamble is playing.

Yeah, just yep. Ponga slots into the spine somewhere. So far, Gamble at 6 is greater than Miller at 1, and Ponga can kick goals. Tell yourself it won't happen though.
Miller can kick 'em too, has done his whole career. He had an off night with his boot, he'll be staying back at training doing extras this week, no doubt.

Nothing beats off night with the boot more than In 2000 when we played the Roosters In the semis.

Had Joey nailed all his kicks we would have been on our way to the Grand Final.

We just had to wait an extra year though, so It panned out. 🤣

Freddy Fittler carved us a new one in the second half. Schooled one A.Johns that night. I was at that game. Quiet drive home..

You can tell Miller is a part timer as a goal kicker atm. You can pick whether he’s gonna miss before he even shoots based on how he’s placed the ball.
