But after best pre-season ever(tm) and constant talk about how they're going to step up, last night was uninspiring. They were a long way from dominant against a pretty ordinary pack. Jsaf in particular was outplayed by Barney and probably Leo to an extent.

Unfortunately this just seems to be the way, they'll have a really good game once a month or so, and some average and mediocre stuff mixed in.

But seriously they are actually pretty crap. If I was picking a forward pack neither would be in my team.

I have always liked the safs boys since their debuts. AOB needs to change their roles to be more suited to modern game. They need to be confident in drawing in tired defenders and offloading. Look at Klem in tigers trials he was playing like a farkin playmaker drawing and passing. Why? Because thats what the coach has asked of him.
 
If you think we coached the passing and offloading out of Klemmer once he got to Newy, clearly you never watched him at the Dogs. It was absolutely a wrinkle he added to his game after joining us.

The passing came and went when he was with us, remains to be seen if that’s on the coach’s orders or if it was in the game plan and it’s hard to get him to stick with it consistently. Sheensy loves passing forwards so I have no doubt he’s being told to throw heaps.

Criticism where it’s due but the idea that Klem was this “love child of Victor Radley and Tevita Pangai”-esque pre-line pass and offload machine before AOB got ahold of him is so far off base lol.

He had a pretty good passing game at the dogs, he learnt alot from James Graham and Hasler.

Says Hastings needs to step up and prove Sheens wrong.

Says we should split the Saifitis.

Says Ponga needs to jump to his feet after a head knock or he'll get HIA calls.

Says Frizell re-singing is up in the air and he'll need to take a big paycut to stay.
 
Frizell re-signing for much less would be good for our salary cap and would be a good example for other players when they are negotiating new contracts.
 
He’s still obviously a very good NRL player, we obviously missed him when he had to come off on Friday night, he’s just not worth $700K/season (probably never was). $700K cumulatively for him + let’s say Sorensen would be pretty good business though.

Knights are in the business for having to pay overs for most players. 😂
 
We need to re-sign Friz. Hopefully for a lot less, I'd be happy at $400k per year for 2 years.
We need his experience.
I'm not sure who else we play in the back row next year.
KPP will take time and he looks very lanky may need to put on some beef for NRL.
