2022 Knights Recruitment & Retention Thread

The only decent hooker that we could sign for the remainder of the year is Segeyaro. Has 150 games of experience and although he hasn't played NRL for a few years I think the new rules would suit his style of play. He would be a good option in the 14 role with Randall playing the first 30 minutes.
 
Turpin won't be in the 17. He would be back up to Randall. A better option than Crossland. For his position as a backup he has more creative capacity than other players ranked 3rd in line for hooker 7 try assists per 50 games is good for a 9 who would be our 3rd string hooker.

If we're comparing him to Cook, Mahoney and other first grade hookers then sure, he isn't creative. Compare him to reserve graders and then tell me he isn't a creative player.

He isn’t a creative player no matter what way you want to put it.
 
I assume he's worked with Milford a lot.
If Bedsy and Joey taught us anything, it's that a good combination between hooker and halfback is money in the bank.
 
Ignoring the part where you draw any kind of parallel between 2 of the greatest players of all time at their positions to Jake Turpin & Anthony Milford, we've seen their combination for a few years now. Brisbane had their worst ever period as a club while they were combining.

You might have seen it.
I don't spend much time watching Brisbane play.
But anyway, I assume the Knights people would ask Milford if he can work with the guy before they would pull the trigger.
 
I didn't follow the knights as closely a few years ago as I did now. But can someone explain to me why Sione ever got moved into the backrow? Who encouraged the youngest Australian rep who played wing to try and bulk up and move into the second row?
 
I don’t think Turpin is a great player but he’ll do a lot of the basics especially in attack better than Randall. I think if Brailey is still another 4-6 rounds away he will help us win more games and should help the Saifitis games too.

Yeah Turpin will definitely be an upgrade on Randall. Easy to forgot that broncos were playing like dog**** the past two years. Will make any young hooker look bad.

From what i remember he got moved into the backrow because his defensive decisions out wide weren't good enough. Being Sione though the club didn't want to let him go so they made him a b/rower which in my opinion didn't really work either .
Although i was reading about him yesterday and the poms love him as a b/rower and apparently he has been going great guns over there .
Good luck to him too he's a nice guy and a 100% effort player as well.
I could be totally wrong here but did he ever play wing for us , I remember he played a bit of F/b for us and Centre then B/row and he may have filled in on the wing but i don't remember him being an outright winger for us .
Although my memory is getting so bad he probably played only wing for us lol.

Should have never played for Aus but Tim Sheens always had a weird fascination with debuting players as young as possible (and managed to lose the four nations that year).

i thought he debuted for us on the wing and was there for those first few games before his aus debut
 
The team was coming off yet another crappy season that year, then last few games in classic Knights fashion, started to throw the ball around a bunch and looked good, won a few games. Sione was a bit skinnier back then. Might have been the most inform team Sione ever played with here. Having those Polynesian genetics though, I think his frame was always going to start bulking up the more NRL pre-seasons he did.

Australia also had an unprecedented amount of injuries to the backline for that series to go along with the media fanfare and Wayne’s comments on him.

Yeah that was a pretty heavily injury hit Aus side … which NZ rightly gave a right spanking to. 😛 But Sione was still a weird selection.
