You do realise that could be the deal….
“You guys can only have Barnett if you take him now” as we need reinforcements, and I’m sure the warriors would like Barnett early.
 
Warriors wanted Barnett before the seasons started so would probably still like to get him early even with the suspension.

Been no indication Katoa or any other Warrior is on the table yet though.

What benefit does that give Warriors? A further depleted team? You do realise this isn’t NFL where players can be traded? Barnett and Katoa would both have to agree to swap places effectively.

What are you on? They are clearly not playing Katoa. By adding Barnett to the team they would become a better side.

I dont think we have enough to entice Munster away from Storm or out bid Redcliffe
 
"Official" trades don't happen but mutually agreed swap deals do. Pretty regularly.

We know Barnett wants out, he already asked for a release and was knocked back. He's back in 4 weeks and would be replacing someone who's not even in their top 17 currently.

Katoa would probably get a slight pay bump, maybe an extra year on his deal, and would actually be playing first grade. Not ridiculous to think he would agree to that.

Not arguing that trades don’t happen in effect, but not in the way where the clubs hold all the leverage and players have none. Genuine question - what are some recent examples of this happening though?

No one is talking about him as being Payne Haas, people that actually know about our junior system know that he’s worth retaining. All this outside talk about us not spending enough time developing our juniors and bringing through local talent would really make sense if we to let Croker walk. Just because he isn’t an origin prop after 4 games doesn’t mean he isn’t worth giving a top 30 spot too. We don’t have to go giving him our whole cap. He obviously loves the club and has busted his backside to earn the chance, may as well fill one of our spots to those who deserve it.

I’m in the minority too, but Haas is massivelyyyyyy overrated.

I don't think anyone is really arguing that he's worth a top 30 spot. But if the Dolphins are going to offer him decent money then we shouldn't be trying to match it. He's a minimum wage guy at this point.
 
The best thing about juniors like Croker is that they should be cheap backups willing to stay for less.
It doesn't make any sense to get in a bidding war just cause he's from Newcastle.
 
Croker is close to being better than Jesse Sue right now - and he still has a lot of improvement in him.
Our recruitment team have been offering unders for locals like Hoy, Crossland, King, Croker etc in the belief that locals will stay for less - and it makes sense. The lower level locals will stay for less because they can live a lot cheaper at home than in a major city.
If we can save money by signing guys cheaply to fill out our roster, we have money to bring in the people we need at the top of the roster.

How can that be right listening to people on here Ponga is **** , personally i think that is a load of crap lol...
