2021 Season

Mitchell is always treated as the darling of the NRL. He needs a good stiff say eight weeks to wake up to himself. Get ready for Uncle Benny's whining.

He doesn’t care.he’s another one that it’s always someone else’s fault. Same with that Scott idiot. Really hate Souths, and that Walker grub

Chuck in Wayne Bennett and they are my most hated team other then manly for obvious reasons. I mean it's ok to be aggressive but the way those certain players go about it is just too far but it stems from their childhood. Gus an joey saying the hit was in the moment defending your line. Sure I agree with that part but the way Mitchell handled himself during that game was atrocious and that hit was the cherry on top.

Bennett seemed pretty accepting in the press conference that Mitchell wouldn't be playing for them again this season.

I thought Robbo didn't know what to say. He looked like he really wanted to haul off and just give it to 'em with both barrels but started rambling instead.

So Parra win. Now 4th. Manly should beat doggies. They'll go 4th then. Those 3 spots from 4th to 6th hotly contested for a week one redemption if lose their 1st week semi.

To be honest, I think this is ridiculous.

I can't be the only one who thinks coaches being fined for criticising officials is stupid right?
Officials, like players, are subject to error and they should face the same public scrutiny as players and coaches
Personally, I think we should see referees face media conferences post-game the same way coaches do.

Prepare for no one ever wanting to ref in the NRL ever again then. They are already hated enough, they literally get booed whenever you see them get presented with an award or something at the GF/Origins, just for being a ref. Got to think about the moral side of things with mental health. Singling out people is a no no, just say you disagreed with the officials, will look for an explanation & move on. Poor blokes probably can't even have social media, imagine what they'd get considering what players already deal with.

You know what I use to love. One ref, controlling the game. You are going to get bad calls, live with it, they are human. That’s the way footy should be played. Not trying to get it perfect.

the thing I use to love playing footy was every ref was different, some had big 10 metres, some small. Some you could get away with things, other would annoy you. Some characters would actually help. To busy trying to make the game “perfect”

That's the biggest problem with game today I reckon. Many people will just say the refs are bad, but in reality there's so much going on every second of every match, they actually get most things right. Mistakes happen, but there's an obsession with going back & checking everything, whether it's tries or foul play. That's what's frustrating. I feel like if we just got on with it, accept whatever the ref's decision is, people would move on, live with it, the game would continue to flow.

I imagine though they'll never go back to that because of how high the stakes are being a professional sport with gambling & whatnot. Everything has to be perfect, everything has to be reviewed.

What a load of bollocks, they are full time professionals and well paid.

Players have to stand up and face the fire when they under perform and cop all kinds of abuse online as well.

They need to be held accountable and be asked questions after the game like coaches and players. Instead we get the weekly apology from their boss that they got a clear and obvious decision wrong. There is no accountability on the night from any of them and we wonder why there has been no signs of improvement by the same usual suspects.

Singling out people is a no no correct. But lack of accountability from our match officials is ruining our game, whether officials are singled out or not, games have been changed/ruined on the back of appalling calls, see Latrell on the weekend, he should have been sent off for that tackle if the crackdown on contact with the head is any sort of guideline to follow. But instead, we had to wait for intervention and he only gets 10 minutes.

On the same side of the coin, how can you justify a 10-minute sin-binning for a tackle that was later found to be worthy of suspending Latrell for 6 weeks? I completely agree with everything Trent Robinson said in his press conference, our referees are laughable. If officials in a competition like the English Premier League made similar mistakes, they'd be thrown to the wolves.

You can't justify not placing the refs under any scrutiny because they'd cop too much of it, if they got the calls right in the first place and found some consistency they wouldn't be scrutinised at all. Instead, year after year we are talking about how bad the refs have been instead of how entertaining the comp has been.
