Connor Watson signs with the Roosters

Sasagi has a very similar skillset to a young Watson, but it took Watson 100 firstgrade games to get really good and Sasagi has a long, long way to go.

just because it took Connor a while doesn't mean that it will take Sasagi as long.
two seperate people.

Wonder how Sasagi or Jack Johns would go in the 13 jumper? Not saying they’d be a like-for-like replacement for Watson (or as good) but they’re a bit bulkier and can ball-play.

Jack struggled a bit with the physicality of reserve grade from what I can see.

Sasagi with more time in the centres in reserves will put himself in the frame to get his shot, but yeah he’s an option as a utility too for sure.

Possible cut rate recruitment option would be Siliva Havili. Alternatively there’s Sione Fainu, a Manly junior with big wraps on him, ball playing lock, who’s on a hiding to nothing to get a run at 13 behind Jake Turbo who’s an 80 minute guy.

The disappointing part for me was that Watson was signed on big money initially and under-delivered as a 5/8th. Not knocking him for that, as it's just not his best position, and we didn't have the best of coaches at the time. He had 3 injury-riddled years, and when he did play he had severe butterfingers. We extended him for another year and he has been one of our best every week. I don't begrudge any player going for money's sake. I guess the disappointment comes from the lengths the club went to for him, and then after what (reportedly) seems to be a good offer, he moves on. I'll get over it though

If his head back to the Roosters on $650k plus which is my gut feeling as we would have offered around $500k, glad that we didn't compete with the big $. Hopefully Johns or Sasagi can grow into his role.

Sad to seem him go but can't keep them all.

People need to remember Mann would be on half of Watson's money(even though that's still expensive lol.)

From what Barry Toovey said we offered 350k for 3 seasons . The roosters was less for just 2 seasons . Obviously wanted us to pay more to keep him . Can’t see him get much of a run in a full strength rooster side to be fair either
