How are we looking injury wise, I know plenty would have went for procedures to clean up this and that, but by my reckoning everyone should be fully fit?
Also hope that Obi is sensible and goes the modern trend of getting the younger fella's and fringe players back first and than depending on age and condition the more senior / valuable players later.

Things seem a little up in the air Scaleybugs. Talk of Blake Green released back to the Knights and gossip is a position on the coaching staff, rumours Jake Clifford is leaving the Cowgirls and coming here. So I guess until early December we will be all guessing.

According to the mole, the release of Pearce to join the Roosters is imminent as all the dominoes are falling in to place. The mole links all the fabricated media stuff together, pearce being asked to take a pay cut, pearce misses his family in Sydney, knights linked to widdop and townsend, roosters got rid of flanno.

Klemmer is the 8th player to have surgery.
He has had his thumb injury repaired (he has been carrying that since before he joined us) and won't be able to train fully till after Christmas, but he'll be able to do fitness work.
The recovery list is Watson, Brailey, Green, Crossland, Ponga, Klemmer, one I can't remember, and for some reason they have McCullough on our surgery list.

I wonder if the talk that Pearce will leave if he has to take a 40% pay cut on his extension is true , if it is we may need Clifford and Green . This Team is of course if they train better than the others going for that position .
Im very interested to see how Young goes over the next few years . If he is as good as they say he is then it would be nice to have a Beast at 3 and 4 .

I'd take Townsend on $400-$500k to Pearce's $800k-$1,000,000 to be honest.
Reckon we'll see a lot of changes in the coming weeks.
If Pearce was to leave I'd expect us to be picking up zero dollars for his contract next year though.
The mole will be wrong yet again, which is normal and unsurprising for him to be. But automatically disgregarded it myself once it was him saying it.

Origin won't be over till late November and I assume Dan Saifiti and Frizzel will get a month off, so they won't train before the Christmas break, which takes them to mid January.
Klemmer won't be training till after Christmas.
The only middle forwards locked in before Christmas are Jake Saifiti, pasami Saulo and Christian Ma'amania. King and Matt Croker might be signed by then.
Jirah Momoisea is signed, but has been training as a second row.
If we are going to do opposed sessions before Christmas we might struggle to find 6 fit middle forwards.

Agree Ethan. If Obi wants him would think signing prior to now as he is one of a few off contract with nothing on the table apparently.
Also off contract and not re-signed atn this stage with Josh King are Jones, Lino, Moga.,TRD and Tuala.

I think they are holding off on King, Jones, Randall, Croker etc till they see if they have money to buy better players. If they fail to get the bigger names they are after they might be able to buy a few guys worth 300k. If they have spent all their money they'll fill out the roster with those guys for minimum wage.

One guy I have high hopes for next year is Shibasaki.
He gave an interview after he had a shocker of a game against the Roosters I think it was in which he said he wasn't trusting his team mates and was trying to make every tackle himself (the coaches had told him).
Basically, he was trying too hard in a big game.
When he concentrates on just doing his own job in defence, he is one of our best.
He was also a real target for Lino to kick to in attack and was nearly as good as Lee in the air. He scored 5 tries in 11 games for us and 0 from 13 for the Broncos.
He has only played 24 first grade games and is the same age as guys like Jones, Saulo, Starling etc - so still a rookie really.
In short, I think his best form in defence and attack is good enough for a top 17 spot. As a young player it's not unusual for him to be pretty inconsistent, and he has been, but I can see him developing very nicely next year.

I'm not disputing what you are saying Billy re Shiba, except to say that his average of performing at his best versus his worst is my problem with him - on a consistency front and in spite of his performance in the Semis, I'd have Tuala ahead of him on consistency and potential every day of the week.
I think Shibasaki is a player that has limited development in him because, from my assessment, he is more of an athlete than a football player.
In attack, and outside of his ability to compete for and catch a high ball, but from what I've noticed as a centre he just doesn't have the natural ability to read a situation and play what's in front of him - he tends to try and run the set plays regardless of whether it is on or not and tends to struggle when he is pressured by the defence in those situations.
In defence, and outside of the feedback (from the coaches) I still think there is an issue of being able read a play and adapt - again because I think he is an athlete that can manage when everything goes to plan but he struggles when he has to read the play and make decisions.
The only other measure for comparison is that I also consider Tuala is a much better effort on effort player - I have noticed that Shiba tends to drop his concentration and not respond when he is initially beaten and needs to scramble...I never seem to see that in Tuala, Best or Hunt
Again, he's not our worst player and gives us depth but I personally see Tuala, Best, Hunt and Lee as our most capable starting back line, with Toa (particularly after a full first grade off season) also ahead of him. For me that then puts him probably at the front of the mix with the development players like Simi potentially and finally Young.
