Kalyn Ponga discussion

I said it months ago that if Ponga wants to be a 1+mil player? He needs to be able to excel over the 73m wide field not just down the left.
Imo our attack has gone to chit due to this only being able to attack 1 side of the field and the other sides know its pearce to Ponga and thats it.
Shut that down and it stops our points.

I love the kid but his not worth 800k imo atm.
Teddy is 2x the x factor atm and aint on 1 mil.

Assuming meaning me. It certainly helps the team teddy is playing in. KP is doing brilliantly given how we have been going.

Teams will see that, and these days pay for potential as much as runs on the board.

But I still dont think any player is really worth 1.5 per year under this TV deal.
 
Ponga’s dad is going to be his manager for future negotiations? Dear god. Strap yourself in as it could get a little tense. The guy is a glory hunter living through his sons fame.
 
Apparently Ponga has a big offer from Union and the 6 mill is giving the Knights a chance to match it.
That is actually good news for us because it means the NRL will have to chip in if they want to keep him in the code - probably in the form of a broadcasting deal.

Billy don't the NRL have a war chest of there own to help keep players in the game .

He has one with foxtel now.

Cant imagine fox being too happy if he went to Rugby.

If KP is thinking about his long term career in Australia after he retired, he would be smart to stick with league.

I cant see him going to union personally.

Just reminds me of the offer Joey got from Rugby. Joey thought about it and stayed with League.

The All Blacks is a massive pull for him. He even mentioned it early on when at the Cowboys that his dream was the All Blacks.
 
Biggest thing that will Keep Kalyn in the NRL is he still has a lot to do, win a premiership, win SOO play for Aus.

Once those are ticked off I fully expect him to go onto another challenge, won't be suprised if he does a Jordan post footy codes and hits the golf scene!

Wouldn’t be that big a surprise. He was a junior kiwi champion at golf.
