Knights release Jesse Ramien

Rumour I heard was he was cut following a bust-up with Brown after being dropped (I expect verbally). I'll chase up my colleague for his source.

It was a quick transition from "being granted permission to look elsewhere" to "has been let go effective immediately".

He’s looked sluggish since he got here and he’s definitely been carrying more around his guts. I put it down to he signed for unders initially and kicked up a stink. We have a direct replacement in Hunt, he carry’s the ball from our own end, hits a great line and is great defensively.... and is on bugger all busting his guts still after being told he won’t be resigned because the club probably thought Ramien would come good. The answer is pretty clear on who I’d sign if I was a coach. Good on the club.

I think it's pretty ordinary that it's probably taken this with Ramien for Hunt to be spoken to.

Yeah I think Hunt deserved an upgrade but I can see why they weren’t keen too initially. We sign Ramien with this tremendous upside and everyone kept waiting for him to come good, and I guess it would be more than just form you can see in his body language he’s never been comfortable which is probably the nail in the coffin. I think Brown would have learnt a lot from the situation and would regret not dropping him earlier for Hunt.

On a number of occasions this year I've noticed him giving up on a play or being lazy af in defence, I don't want him to get but also don't want to waste cap space for someone not putting in.

Like everybody I’ve been waiting for him to come good, thought the reserves stint might spark him or at least fire him for next year
But if he threw his toys out of the cot then I’m happy for Browny to take the hard stance as he could have just wasted a full year again next year then still left.
Now his money will be split between SKD & Hymel who might not have the same talent he has but sure have shown 10x more heart and pride for the club this year.

So it appears he has been cut by the club and told not to return. Yet, he cant sign with another NRL club due to June 30 deadline, English club deadline is fast approaching.

He is still contracted here so Knights haven't officially sacked him. So we are paying him now to not have anything to do with us.

That sounds like a very big bust up indeed. News places reporting it's been simmering for a while.

That's some man management shown by Brown and the club. I thought Browns struggle with getting the side performing was that he was too much one of the boys. It appears quite the opposite.

Going to be an interesting few months of footy for knights, lets see if players respond to Browny, if not what then find a new coach or get new players (clean up)
This whole bad attitude thing, my take is most nrl players have bad attitudes lol its no soft sport. Just need to get them all playing good footy

Surely we have some money to spend on the open market now?

If we lose Ramien, Ese, Levi and Buhrer to sign a bloke who isn’t even the best hooker in his family we are in strife.

What's Ponga on $650k at the moment we agreed on? You can add another $250-$400k depending on how much his manager wants to juice us alone.

Dan will be getting around $500k you'd assume. So there's $500k-$700k in upgrades for 2 blokes.

Well that’s depressing. Normally teams have at least some success before upgrades come in and force players to leave.

Brown signed or re-signed all the players.
I really like the team we have on paper this year, still think we can push hard for the 8, getting rid of Ramien most have been some serous stuff behind the scenes. I reckon the playing group should respond strong and play tough against our main rivals this week.
Just seems like rumours of moving Levi, Ese ese, Ramien(happened) etc seems to be the way we are going.

That depends on if the rest of the squad are sick of Brown also.

Has to be a reason we have only won 4 home games this year, he cant seem to get the best out of the team and how many times do we pin the blame on player attitude before we look to Brown.

Wests have already said Brown will be coaching next year unless some calamity happens. When do we consider the season a calamity?

If the squad doesnt turn it around right now, we will finish the year with two more wins only.
