What do we need to be legitimate contenders in 2019?

Hookers not so much of a problem for this as explained but next year we will need one, Griff if back won't be until more than half way 2019 and we are already short on halfs and f/b. Not saying spend big money but experienced type for 1-2 years then assess needs
 
So the new Reggies coach needs to be a strong defensive coach it is dragging first grade down if players come in to fill in for an injury they need not to open holes so first graders feel confident to keep doing what they do if everyone is fit.

I think we have some good backs signings so far we definitely need 1 top line middle player someone who can rip a tear bring the mongrel and can inspire Safitti boys to go with him.

I think we need one Utility/half preferably can play multiple positions in the backs plenty of pace

If he does he'll be a pretty decent bench option and able to cover almost any position.

IMO without the pearce injury we would be playing final footballs this year. With the progression of our squad and the addition of lee, ramien and glasby i cant see us missing the eight next year if we have a decent run with injuries. If we managed to land klemmer pick up a utility like tyrone and have a decent run with injuries i would think we had a chance to go all the way.
 
Whilst I think us going all the way next year is a very long shot. Considering we can't seem to defend. I reckon if we had a good injury run this season we would be in the 8, next year we should be for sure.

But how easily we make the 8 depends on how we recruit.
 
Imo we are pretty right from 1-5 for next year.

Ponga/watson/lee/ross
Lee/ross/nadan
Ramian/sione
Moga/ross/sione
SKD/nadan

Halves are needed...a 25yr old that has a good kicking game thats in cup somewhere atm would be good.
Im sure Lamb will stay as well now.

Middle forwards are needed to, 1 more 80+ gamer under 28yrs old would be good... even bettervif they're rep level.
And 2 others with nrl games under 25yrs old and from good systems just stuck behind good players.

We aint far away at full strength for 2019.

We'll definitely give it a real good shake imo.

I didnt give us a hope this year at all, Even after 10rds i thought we would struggle to get 10wins for the year.

Not shore if we give a top 8 a shake at all next year. Loosing patience with Brown we having the same defensive issues for years now. I understand having depth issues when players go down injured has been a problem but just the lack of effort and losing winnable games like cowboys etc, goes down to mindset of the players and PASSION. I would like to see us play strong right to the end of season no matter were Knights stand on the table but just cant see it happening just feels like the players don't care now (apart from Ponga,Pearce and Fitz who all deserve better)

We were unlucky vs the cows to lose mate. We had it and lost with 30 seconds left.
Take 4-5 of your best out of anyside and they struggle, we lose those few and our back up are kids way out of depth.
Just unlucky imo.
Have faith, things are coming for this club and it should be a long ride of success.
 
Brown has done amazing with resources he has had available to him and is building a good squad quicker than expected from the hole we were in. People want it to happen quicker but we are already building quicker than most clubs ever have, seriously only Storm and Broncos when first started built competitive squads quicker since professional footy and they had unlimited resources we have been building in austerity situation. Wests have improved things but they didn't become rich by throwing money away.

I think we need one really Marquee Middle forward aggressive preferably. I would like to see a defensive coach installed before preseason and be a whole of organization job so whatever team if step up can fill in confidently. I also think we need a few depth signings to make NSW cup competitive think we need that for first grade and fringe first graders to develop good habits if get what I mean.
 
Klemmer really would be the icing on the cake. But won’t happen. Need at least 3 decent props, a half, another fullback/centre/winger.
 
88 - noticed mentioned Naden twice in 1-5 spot but he hasn't played every game, hasn't pushed Denniss or others out of 1sts, do we really think he is ok, not sure any of our reserve 1-5 are going to make it, Meaney gone with Hughes a prolific try scorer a chance.

Nadan is signed for next yr im 99% sure
 
Naden is a handy attacking player but a poor defender.
His best position is fullback, and that's probably the only position he might be firstgrade standard at a pinch.
His stats this week say it all - 178 metres run, 0 tackles 1 missed.
This season in 17 games he's made 80 tackles and missed 31.

Barry , I agree with your assessment but you will need at least 2-3 “Marquee Middle forward aggressive” cause they are marked by the MRC and spend half the time suspended, so you will need back up .

Thanks Simon would love more but with the restricted squad of 30 and 6 development players can't be overly greedy in any position but I know what you mean I think we will be looking more to the Matty Parsons model as back up better value
