AFB & Marty are great with the ball but the Sea Eagles middle defence is as bad as ours tbh.

Those guys are 100% an upgrade on our front row stocks, but we'd still be weak in the middle.

That's why I'm happy with the Glasby signing

Doesn't make huge metres or break many tackles but does make a decent amount of yardage in short minutes and defensively he is very good

They guy is a workhorse who will do a job for us

    Tim Glasby in 2018

    Games - 19
Average Minutes Per Game - 43
Average Metres Per Game - 81.2
Average Tackles Per Game - 24.3
Average Missed Tackles Per Game - 1.3
    Overall Tackle Efficiency - 90.8%

    More than that around

There is a number Tex Hoy showed he can handle NSW cup this season

We have 4 or 5 quality kids capable if required with only 30 in cap cant afford 10 fullbacks we need other positions a lot more

We don't need '10 fullbacks' but if we're considering playing KP at 5/8 we need a better backup than Watson or Ross or Hoy or Cooper.

Fullback is arguably the 2nd most important position on the field these days.

You won't get a better backup then those guys for the price. No side has 2 superstar fullbacks

Parra has Hayne, Gutho & French

Sharks - Holmes, Dugan & Moylan

    Storm - Slater & Hughes

My point is if we’re considering playing KP at 5/8 we should have a good back up option, we haven’t even replaced Meaney yet.

You can have the best 3-4 f/b in the comp in your team but it means very little if you don't have 2-17 well covered

Cooper and Hoy seem as good as Meaney was at the same age, but a year off firstgrade at least.
We probably need to replace Sio with someone who can play wing and fullback equally well.

    Roughie,
Watched him with interest in last nights game- solid runner without being damaging, gets quick play the balls , slow to react in defence but does hang on if he gets you.
    Solid player not really dominating

It will be interesting to see how Glasby goes from being a ‘bit part’ ‘role player’ at the Storm, to being a starter and leader of our pack.

Playing alongside Bromwich, Finucane, NAS & McLean would have made his job easier, but also limit his minutes. He has his chance at Newcastle to show he can be a genuine NRL starter.

Glasby will be 30 next year. He will have to be a leader as you don't get too many extensions after that if you fail.

    I'm sure he'll go great.

Herman and Griffin were fringe/bench guys and they have been in our five best players this year.

Why would one expect a current SOO player and GF winner to be solid?

2299, I don’t have a problem with him being solid but whether he is the dominating Prop we are in need of is a wait and see situation.

As for your SOO player statement there was some conjecture when he was selected it was because Cam Smith wanted him specifically for his quick play the balls which was a part of the Qld teams strategy going forward.

Either way when he plays for us I will be cheering him on and hoping he does his job.

Thing is Brown didn't buy Glasby to be that dominant prop , he said only the other week that we are still after a big dominant prop or 2 a fair while after Glasby signed. imo Glasby will be the rock in the middle and Brown will work from there out to make a great pack to go with a nicely forming halves combo and backline .
