Sione Mata'utia re-signs with the Knights

This is the thing with the whole concussion problem and CTE no one knows how it happens at first they thought it was from big knocks and now the believe it’s from small repeated knocks ie boxers jab or nfl linemen when they go helmet to helmet. The truth and scary thing about head knocks and concussion is that everything they do is preventative but they don’t know how to fix anything! I think it was something like out of 100 nfl players 99 had cte and it can only be detected when they cut the brain open it’s terrifying! But I’m sure that a club potentionally being sued for it has taken every step possible to insure sione is fit to play

Now whats the common denominator? Ill give you blokes a clue. What positon was he playing when the concussions occured? Lol

It actually blows me away that people either can't understand or dont want to understand that his concussions occur when he plays in the forwards. Often late in the halves under heavy fatigue

Remove those factors and the concussions should be about as prevalent as they were prior to him playing in the forwards

The medical staff have cleared him. I take this to mean that given the known risks, his condition is manageable. And frankly, the risk is his. He clearly is prepared to risk what is his to lose, on the basis of the advice given to him

Why do people on a forum pressume to dictate to him a set of ethics by which he should live his life? He wants at least one more contract. If i were him id do the exact same

I wasn’t saying anything I’m saying that they have cleared him it’s also called duty of care hence why the nfl got sued look it up you will be amazed by what they got away with! There is also a movie called concussion but I agree I would do the same but in any line of work if your deemed unfit you can’t do the job hence why I said they have prob done everything they can!

Most players if not all would say let me play after they have had a concussion hence it’s the duty of care by the club........McManus is suing for this exact reason

Enlighten us as to the common denominator.

It's got nothing to do with dictating, if he gets one more Gardiner won't offer him a contract imo. Someone else might very well be prepared to.

He started at centre rnd 5 and moved to the backrow

Ive seen the movie. Its a scary watch, no doubt.

Duty of care is a legal phrase. And the club has fulfilled its duty of care. That's what the past six months has been about. Sione wanted to play, wants a new contract etc, it is the club tempering the process

That's important. Because so far, Sione has played half his career in the backs during which time he has sustained 1 headknock. And while in the backrow he has sustained another 5 or more. Theres a telling trend there which makes my point
 
If this discussion was about anyone else other than Sione we probably wouldn't be having it. Due to the feelings of some it keeps getting brought up, if he is medically cleared and he wants to play where is the problem?

Hi all,
Footy season is just around the corner whoooo.

Thank farrrk Sione is going back out wide, i wanted it all last yr.

As others have already stated, his been cleared to play, so cheer him on like u got ur house on him to win.

He needs a massive yr imo or he will be cut eitherway.
Has cost the club plenty and delivered little for the price.
