Players say a lot of things. Contract time though, it depends on if their current team wants to offer them as much, needs to free up salary cap space.

A player who thinks they are nice and comfortable can find themselves forced to consider other options.

Not that I think we have a chance at Graham.

Ive read so far that Ponga is on $350,000 , $500,000 $700,000 , $800,000 personally I don't think anyone has any idea what Ponga will be getting here...Also if Ponga is on $7 or $800,000 then Bird is a steal at $8 or $900,000 ...

Give him a call and get the ball rolling mate.

@Lord of the Skraelings
Ran into him late last yr and asked him if he would come to newcaslte if the dollars were good and he pretty much got laughed at.

In other words his getting huge money at the dogs and we couldnt get him for any money

Hey if I was getting top $ at a good company, than I'd made to move for top $ at another crapper company.

Now we're comparing Hunt to Bird, lmao who gives a rats.

The fact of the matter is that Bird will be a good signing if we pull it off and could get the ball rolling in the player market.

I'd go beyond good signing and say great, myself.

So much better than the last half we picked up. :p

Right so are we a bunch that like to believe the media in one subject if it suits then totally not believe it in other subjects?

No one wants to believe ponga is getting 700k a yr... but will jump all over this news like flies on a dog

Dogs wont be moving Graham on guys... his there leader and one of the best forwards in the game.

I don't remember anyone ever saying Ponga was going to be on $700k next year

Maybe in the fifth year of his deal with some rep bonuses or whatever would be more feasible that said...

Gidley said those reports weren't true though, didn't he?

Sounds like some Bulldogs players might be going, so we may be able to pick up someone from there at least, even if not Graham.

I just read that we are not going after anyone but Bird for the next few months as we want to see how our young forwards go and see what happens in the market. Due to teams having to offload players because of the lower than expected cap and that the Dogs have 6 high profile players with heavily back ended deals for next season and they wont be able to keep them and go for the Tigers big 4 ...Were also waiting to see what Gagai wants to do as he has till mid season to take up an option for another year on his contract ....

By then most on the merry go round will have gotten off and we are left with the dregs of forwards.

I'm sure they will want to know the result on Bird one way or another also.

Yeah it said Bird is the only one ...It says a lot of teams are going to have to offload players and we will see who we can get then and getting rid of cheap players wont work we could get some really good players out of it and the names at the dogs were all high profile players ..and that's just 1 club .

But if we don't get Bird, then what? Nothing for months as we want to watch our young forwards?

Even if they kick on, we need another good prop for the rotation, depth.

Everything's coming up Milhouse if we manage to jag this guy. I did a lil bit of lurking on Bird and this interview he did in the 2016 preseason gives me a bit of confidence. Interesting parts are at around 9 and 22 minutes in.
