Official: Knights sign Kalyn Ponga on a 4 year deal

I definitely think he is the number 1 we are looking for. Fancy footwork, can get in plays, yet to see defence side of things but seems to do ok organising the line etc.
 
I only saw the gif that NRL posted on their twitter (about to be retweeted by ms) but geez, that alone was amazing!
 
Slipped in very comfortably. He'll have no trouble in the offence side of the game. Hasn't been put under any pressure defensively yet.
 
Cowboys looked very flat, so much ball insde 20 but timing was off, they need a light training session this week. Ponga wa ssolid, nothing fancy besides an offload

The Cowboys were surprisingly flat tonight. JT was half his casual best

I dare say it something to do with the fact that he had a stock standard pack to work with. He went from being great to desperate in 80 mins of footy, with the only difference being that he didn't have the fortune of working behind a world class rotation. Very, very telling imo

Ponga on the other hand, showed enough to confirm the faith leveled at him
 
Didn't watch the game but from the sounds of it the whole side was flat. I dare say 2 golden point bruising games against 2 of the other top sides has taken its toll to go along with the hot humid weather that was seen in Townsville today.

Didn't hear much of Ponga on the radio though.
 
There is no denying his talent I still worry about his physicality for regular first grade hopefully he will be ready for next year.
 
Have some faith nunnsy he will make it.

There have always been little guys making the grade. Yonks ago I can remember my aged mother saying to me whilst watching Manly 'Who is that little boy out there running around with those rough men?" It was Toovey lol!
 
His not little in stature just weight. He will be fine. Fancy footwork will get him there. K gids a great example of a smaller bloke looking half decent.
 
The biggest positive for me was that he was sound in a well beaten team.
Manly did there homework on him and really shut his time down.

The second best thing is that Ponga has around 10 more games to play at fullback in firsts and he will only become more comfortable as time goes by.

His 186cm 90kg so over the next 9mths he could gain another 5kg+
This is everything i was hoping for with him in Townsville till the end of the yr.... unfortunate for Coote to go down but this is brilliant for Ponga and the knights future.
 
I thought he got caught out in defense a bit personally. But theres no doubt of his skills in attack and potential.
