An undeserved Churchill medal doesn't really justify signing a 33 year old. Lewis has been a great player but he's not what we need.

And signing a 32 year old in Greg Bird for 3 years on massive $$$ is? LOL try again.

Luke Lewis is EXACTLY what we need for a year.
He's a leader and a winner on and off the field.
The complete opposite to Bird.
Too bad Lewis has re-signed with the Sharks for another year.

instead of looking at second and third raters.Hopefully we may follow the Sharks lead. Get into the market place for top 1-6-7-9. We should have chased them guys hard Anthony. I have put my money into the Club for thrity years whilst you were playing hopscotch!

Bird is a better player. I'd prefer to sign him. If he doesn't want to be here than there is no point going after him though.

Clive Churchill generally means nothing, I was surprised they didn't give it to Ennis or Gallen just because. Last year the most derserving players like Granville and Coote lost out to favouritism, this year I actually think Lewis deserved it, but would have been happy with Maloney or bird

From Barry Toohey's DT article
Kostjasyn = done deal, Hasnt been announced due to a minor paperwork glitch, Should be sorted this week.
Buhrer = done deal, Just a couple minor clauses to finalize!
Uate Still likely to join Manly
Stone wants Mamo but it has nothing to do with early release of Wardle yet. he is also talking to Randell.
No truth to Crabtree rumours
Vaughan was made an offer by us but dragons deal was too big! They offered him 3 yr deal and final 2 years he will be earning 650k a yr!
We offered Mead a deal but he wanted to stay in QLD
Hoffman also considered but way out of our price range
Heighington has been to newcastle and toured the area, No offer made but is an option still if other cards dont fall into place
Bird is still Browns main target
Brown is keeping an eye on Warriors situation with Foran, If he signs we are keen on Lolohea and Mannering

Fafita was the best player on the field and it wasn't close, but no way was he getting CC with the "FKL" stuff.

Heighington and Tagatese were the Sharks worst two forwards. Pass.

Lewis is a far better player than Bird. Much more of a leader as well. Exactly the type of player you need for a season or 2.

I'd much prefer lewis over bird but he has re signed with Cronulla and didn't ever look like leaving Sydney. Different situation to bird as he is wanted by his current club and is not originally from the area so we were never really in the race unfortunatly

But Bird is a leader of men and a tough nut.
Did you forget he glassed his ex girlfriend and blamed his mate for it?
He's so tough, he's the most suspended player in the NRL.
He's such a great captain, he was stripped of the Titans captaincy.
He's such a great role model for the younger players he was accused of supplying cocaine.

What has Luke Lewis ever done?
Not much except win 2 NRL premierships.
Maybe he needed to **** on a cops car to get noticed.

Its too late to get Lewis but gees whiz throwing big $$$ at Bird and signing him to a long contract will be a massive mistake.

The club said they were not going to sign just anyone and the two we think or know they have signed are 2 good players Kostjayson knows how to win in big games . Levi imo is not ready for 1st grade as the no1 hooker yet but he will be soon ...
I have talked to 3 Manly Supporters and to a man they reckon Barrett should not be letting Buhrer go all think highly off him ....
IMO Barnett should be Lock next season the guy is made for that position ....
So all in all the club has made 2 good signings and stuck to what they said they were going to do and how they would do it . Vaughan they wanted but he got offered overs so they let him go ...Good ....we would have had to pay massive overs to get him after that offer , the club did right ....
Bird is coming here ( if it happens ) for a pay day , anyone that thinks he is going to earn it by putting his body on the line for a club he hates then they are fools ....He will come here for the cash and an easy couple of years he knows were rebuilding and wont win a comp in his contract time so its a payday for him ....

I didn't know Heighington is a central coast junior.
He fits the pattern of bringing back good players from the area.

Viko Puliuvea What about this kid ive seen him play a few times now and he always looks the goods for his age big , mobile , good defender , and Uiti Baker he kept the starting prop spot for the back half of the season in reserves should he have got a shot at first grade or do you think he will ...Tekina Vailea watched him play once and he looked good and Billy said he was playing well and then he disappeared and haven't heard anything else . I was looking forward to seeing these 2 playing 1st grade ah well they may yet if we retained them ...

Heighington seemed to play ok to me last night he seems like the kind of old work horse that would tackle till he dropped. He is getting on though but 1 year with an option for another if we wanted could be ok I think ...

It will be really interesting to see who is training with the firstgrade squad. Brown gave nearly 100 guys across the 3 top grades a chance to impress. Most of the under 20s got time in either reserves or firsts. He really has a big job to decide who and how many of these guys to include. I'd include Tyrone Amey, Sam Stone, Brodie Jones, Tom Hughes, Uiti Baker, Matt Soper-Lawler, Jake McNamara, Luke Yates, Braidie Smith, Henry Penn and Heath Gibbs on top of all the guys who played firstgrade this year - and that's already too many in the squad I reckon.

I was really for getting bird but now not so much ,
I'd prefer a prop more now. Sione Barnett and buhrer in the backrow with the help of j.saffiti and Pauli should be enough there , a good , experienced front rower is more what we need now , then add a big name fullback for 2018 (Holmes) we don't need to buy a whole team just fill in the gaps , we have some huge talent coming through

I guess some of that decision will depend on who we buy too i guess ...

Jack Bird, Valentine Holmes, Ben Barba, Chad Townsend, Gerard Beale, Sosaia Feki, Matt Prior and Wade Graham are all off contract on the 1st of November..
I think there all signed for 2017 just means we could sign them for 2018
