Bird is the worst choice possible for this role.
I like him as a player and would have liked to have seen him at the club, as a player.
The role of senior role model for our young guys is a whole different kettle of fish.
Bird is not a good role model. He couldn't wait to leave us for a few dollars as a kid, and he has bailed on every club he has been at as soon as he got a chance at a better deal.
Loyalty and team spirit is what we want our young players to develop over the next few years. Bird has never shown either, especially not to the Knights.
 
Course he is the same person. Once a grub always a grub.

And there he stood arm in arm with his team mates dedicating to stopping violence against women. Ironic?

His recent past hardly showers him in glory. So I dunno if he has changed.

By ur logic any 16yr old that gets in trouble for assault or stealing should be locked away for life.
For an older guy u sure a single minded sometimes
 
It's great to see what Russell has accomplished and full credit to him, still wouldn't want him at the Knights though.
 
Get real 88. Talk about confusing similes. Bird is always in trouble ~ even on his wedding night. And he ain't 16!!!!

I'd rather Lewis over Bird, but they're both old and wouldn't fix us anyway so won't be a loss if we miss out on both.
 
The article makes a good point, with Smith & Tariq going, Rochow deciding, we might be left with no experience whatsoever in the forwards, so we probably need someone. Just would prefer it not to be a grubby Bird or grandpa Lewis who is a year off retirement. They better not cost much.
