We really do have the situation where only maybe 3 forwards will be sure of their spot at the start of next year, so about 10 young guys and Houston and Faalogo will all be battling for 6 spots. Guys like Tapine, Vaivai and Steele will know that if they train the house down they can grab a spot, while guys like Rochow and Korbin will know that if they slack off they could start the year in reserve grade.
If Stone is smart he will basically put it to them all that the guys who put in the most at training get first shot at round one.

i'd put rochow above all them, he's put enough hard work in to be a certainty to be in 17.

I see Josh Ailaomai is going back to Newcastle to play in the Real NRL, I wouldn't mind the big unit being back on our books.

He seems very proud to be a Newcastle Knight!! Good signing, can't wait to see what he has to offer. Could he be a starter for us with Snowy? Or has Korbin got that wrapped up?

Korbin probably deserves it the most after how well he played this year. He was only just behind Scott as our best forward, I thought.

In saying that, he'd probably offer more impact off the bench than Stockwell so it's a tough one.

Good point @Defender1 Fa'alogo starting with Snowden, Korbin and the 2 best trainers out of Vaivai/Mataora/Stockwell/Tapine on the bench. No doubt Houston will be there though. He should start the first month in the backrow while Tariq serves his suspension and then he'll probably go on the bench. I just want us to blood these young guys early and try let them kick on.

Actually I forgot about Rochow. Who knows how the pack is going to look, sheesh.

Plenty of guys ready to put their hand up.

For all the korbin love his numbers are only as good as faalogo or Houston. Having his bro in town should fire him up, they are psychos for Fiji.

Good for competition, in Snowden, Sims, Houston, Fa'alogo, Rochow, Stockwell, Vaivai, Mataora, Tapine you have about 9 players who could probably play first-grade standard or get to it over the course of the year, fighting for 2 prop spots & 3 bench spots.

8 Snowden
10 T.Sims
11 Rochow
12 Scott
13 Smith
15 K.Sims
16 Houston
17 Fa'alogo
18 Mata'ora
19 Stockwell

Tariq would be wasted at front row imo. The best part of his game is his ability to hit holes on the edges. If any backrower is being turned into a front rower I think it should be Rochow.

I'd go with;
8. Snowden
9. Clydsdale
10. K. Sims/Stockwell
11. Scott
12. T. Sims
13. Smith

14. Rochow
15. Stockwell/K. Sims
16. Tapine
17. Fa'alogo/Vai Vai/Mataora

Yeah we have been screaming for a genuine edge forward for years, Tariq is a beast in that position and will form one hell of a backrow with Scott and Smith. Shame we can't have just one more high quality prop where you just know you'll get 120+ metres every game. That's why I really hope we can bring in the young guys early because we know what we're going to get from Fa'alogo, we don't know what we're going to get from guys like Vaivai, Mataora, Stockwell, Tapine if they're given a real shot and get told to just play their guts out. The exciting potential is there with the young forwards where as it's stock standard stuff from the veterans.

Tariq is usually a right side player from what I've seen but Scott & Mullen's combination is good and I wouldn't want to break that up. Move Tariq to the left and now you have two big, strong ball runners in Leilua & Tariq on the same edge. Couple that with Tyrone's ability to pass to the right player at the right time (one of the things I think he's best at) and our left side would be very hard to stop.

Agreed Rochow should move into the front row. There's no way we'll have four forwards on the bench (as good as it'd be) so 3 of those benchies will miss out plus there's also Houston to consider.
