Round 4: Newcastle Knights v Canberra Raiders - Hunter Stadium

I can't believe the **** these retarded Canberra players and fans say....hate them as much as I hate Manly atm

- - - Updated - - -

Here's one for you just had a look on their forum at the poll who will win the game only 1 person has voted and they voted Newcastle 1-12

This thread is getting annoying to read with all this swearing & *****'s in every second post.

On topic, if McCrone actually gets the chance to keep bombing it to Uate & Wighton & Ferguson run up fast & put pressure on him they may just be pretty successful. Uate drops it plenty a time when there's players rushing to him.

And just for the record, McCrone is a pretty good player, along with alot of their other players, their players individually aren't as crap as people on here are making out, they are just crap as a team.

It makes me uncomfortable when our fans are supremely confident about a game, it's the type of game we've lost in the past. We better not lose though haha.

I think alot of people are just sheep when it comes to Uate, everyone follows everyone else saying Uate has bad hands and is bad in the air. He's no worse than almost anyone else, of course if you continue to bomb a winger there's a chance they're going to drop one, I actually do hope they kick it to Uate because it guarantees us a strong kick return/line break every time.

Can't agree with McCrone being a good player, I really think he's one of the worst. He has a horrendous kicking game and little skill, the only thing I can give him credit for is he's pretty tough for a gnome.

I think it's a good thing we're confident, make the most of the excitement before this place turns into an emo dungeon again (hopefully not for a while). We've been outstanding in 2/3 of our games, we have the best completition rate in the NRL - Raiders have the worst, we have one hell of a team, we've scored 76 points and conceded just 16 in our 2 home games and we're at home again, and we're up against a side that only just beat the worst team so far in the NRL and have been flogged in their other 2 games. If we're not confident there's something wrong!!

It's not cockiness in my eyes as personally I know all too well it's likely we'll choke but staying happy and positive and excited for the game :D

I apologise if the language I have used has offended you or anyone else Just got fired up over the constant attacks on our players and the trash talk that being said my opinions of the Raiders and in particular McCrone will not change. We will beat them and beat them convincingly of that I have no doubt once again sorry If I offended anyone

Uate will be fine, (although I get an immediate feeling of relief when other teams bomb McManus instead).

Can't agree with the opinions about McCrone though, imo he's a very good footballer, somewhat similar to Mullen plenty of talent just unable to harness it.

If Gidley an Mason are fit then they should play, the team can't afford to be complacent at this stage. A strong start to the season is absolutely paramount.

Nah you're ok, i'm not offended by it it's just a bit annoying when it's written constantly.

I hope we destroy this Canberra team, the Knights are giving the fans that attend home games a very happy time so far, scoring plenty of points & conceding little. It'd be fantastic to do it to the Raiders aswell.

Knights will win, we know and i think everyone knows that but that doesn't mean their(raiders) players are just horrible imo McCrone is definitely a good footballer it's just when your team as a whole doesn't play well consistently how can anyone in that team play well, Uate obviously has flaws under the high ball when pressured by defenders but he always does and ends up playing well any way, i don't think we have to worry to much about raiders beating us but we can't let our guard down and think we can just roll over them.

Agreed, can we please keep it to a minimum?

Perhaps we need a cheerleaders thread as well, because that is what this is turning into, rather than any intelligent, objective conversation.

McCrone can talk the Raiders up all he likes, it's that level of Canberra's cockiness that is their biggest downfall as a team.

I'm not worried about Aku's high ball catching but just his defence overall. McKinnon did really well for him last week and seemed to build a nice little partnership instantly.

Can't wait for this game tomorrow, I haven't gone to a game in Newy since we moved in about 2001 i've always had to catch the damn away games. What's better in everyones opinion, general admission or reserved seating?

So it now appears this is how we will line-up:

1. Boyd
2. McManus
3. Quinn
4. McKinnon
5. Uate
6. Mullen
18. Gidley (c)
8. Snowden
9. Buderus
10. Fa'alogo
11. Rochow
12. Houston
13. Smith

7. Roberts
15. Costigan
16. Cuthbertson
19. Mason

This might be how they get Gids playing 80, starts at halfback, Tyrone comes on & Gids goes to hooker & repeat.

Either that, or Gids just stays at halfback.

I have no idea I don't think Wayne will confirm the line up until the last possible moment...up to his old tricks wants to keep the Raiders guessing The squad that Nickwpeacre has posted is correct but the final 17 is yet to be confirmed. According to this article it won't be confirmed until tommorow whatever it may be...

Pickling question:

Who would you rather have on the field in the final 20 minutes when a game is in the balance, Gidley or Buderus?

If they do end up sharing the hooking role, even if Gids starts at halfback, it's likely one of them will be on the bench for the final 20 or so. I can't split them either.
