They are great looking stats! Do you have any others from early 2010?

Feels weird though, I don't remember him ever signing these kind of scrub players with the Broncos or Dragons. Mainly just scouted kids from the area others didn't have much hope in.

Michael Weyman was a loose cannon before Wayne set him straight and made him one of the best front rowers in the game.

Nothing special for the minutes he was playing. Fairly low workrate, Although other than Snowden no other props in the team are doing much more.

If Mason can consistently make around 100m a game, then he's simply a bargain for his price. Maybe he went better at the Cowboys than I thought?

Other than Snowden, I'm pretty sure the last prop that Newcastle had consistently making around 100m a game was Matt White, or on the occasion, Ben Cross when he was in form.

Mason was playing in the backrow at the Cowboys wasnt he??
In some matches it had him listed on the bench, so not sure there, but in the games he was starting, he was listed at prop

Yeah his work rate is pretty poor for the 40-50minutes he was playing. He should be making more tackles than that.

He still makes better metres than Fass, Tui, Eddy or Cuthbertson though.

How? In terms of being set straight, how?

Different amount of incidents, different age (time to turn around), different severity of incidents, different personalities (what we see of them) and potential to change ways ... there's so many things to factor in. And that's not considering what the different players offer the team, their potential, the reaction of sponsors to the two different signings, the value they will give in future seasons through length of time left in career, their different playing styles - some of which may fit the team better than others, the position they play, people's view on their personality, length of time out of the game, previous performances ... all of which make an impact on whether or not a person would think the player is worth signing and worth trying to turn around (or a lost cause).

To simply say this guy did something bad, so did this other guy, therefore you must have the same opinion on both their signings, or whether they can mend their ways, is just way too simplistic. There's a tonne of things that factor into it, and at the end of the day, it can still just be a gut instinct - which I don't see anything wrong with, either.

Big Willie is a boost to our forward pack. He's under no illusion that if his questionable off field behaviour presents itself at the Knights, then it's bye bye.

Daine Laurie and Willie Mason on the bench for impact......I like the sound of that !!

We may see it by seasons end.

I'm not talking about a person's view on whether someone is worth signing or someones view on whether someone is worth turning around though. I'm talking about peoples views on Bennett's ability to turn them around.

And more to the point to say or view that Bennett somehow has the power/ability to help people who get on the drink and do stupid things, help people who have drinking or drug problems, or help people who get into fights or beat on women people who need professional help, but isn't able to get someone to shut up (someone who for the most part has been for the last couple of years)

Yes, but all those factors I listed above will factor into whether or not someone thinks Bennett can change them around. As they are two different people with two completely different sets of circumstances, it is perfectly valid to have different opinions on whether Bennett can mend their ways or not.

Very true. He did have a bit of a history with the judiciary but probably hasn't been as much of a walking headline as some of the guys we have picked up heh.

Well maybe if it was just the two individuals. But then general line is anyone with a problem that is a semi decent player is a good buy because Bennett will fix them up, even though there several players with several different players but Mason is is unfixable by Bennett purely cos its Mason.

My general point is you cant use the whole Bennett will fix them up excuse for every player under the sun, but then not for someone you don't like. But this is going around in circles so end/

It's because Bennett is in a different situation, believe it or not, the Knights team isn't as great as we've made them out to be. The Dragons & Broncos were better teams & Bennett is getting desperate, we'll see success at some point but let's be honest, the team is not as great as we thought.

Mase has never been tackler, he's a bit lazy around that area, but that's not what we want. We want impact, size & metres. We have enough tacklers in the team. 100m a game & i'll be happy.

I too would be happy with that. 100 metres and 15 tackles with a couple of offloads sounds good to me. Also if Kade's work load is lightened then we will get more quality out of him too.
