Update: Stig and Aliaomai contract situations

To be honest it's a bit of a joke he got charged that heavily in the first place. Wasn't it 8 weeks?

I know refs need protection, but shouldn't it be from deliberate attempts of malice etc etc, not careless bumps?

Awesome news on Stig. So looking forward to the back end of this season & next year. We have a great few years to look forward to.

On Ailaomai, it's fair enough that he has to fight for a contract this season. He has been known for inconsistency in the past aswell as disclipinary problems. Hope he has a big finish because i really like him as a player & wanna see him in first-grade. He pretty much has the potential to be Fa'aoso V2.

On a side note, how excitingly good does our roster look for next season?

Will be awesome news if we do sign him. That water under the bridge thing is a bit of a worry and other Clubs will not pussy foot about!

Surely gotta be #1 priority?

So glad that Wayne wants Stig for next year. He looks to have a really bright future in FG. and I'm interested to see what he has to offer, once he settles into the team properly. Hopefully we can get the ball rolling and re-sign him before other clubs start to interest him.

I really hope Aliaomai can have a dig for the next 8 weeks and earn himself a contract, because he can be devastating when he's in good form. He would add to our prop depth nicely for next year and possibly get a permanent spot in the 17 if he really applied himself. He needs to sort out his disciplinary troubles though and his fitness is a concern, too.

Great news, hopefully Stig resigns, been an awesome player in these past couple of rounds, don't really care what happens with Ailaomai, eh..?

Providing he is in the starting lineup, who knows what's going to be our lineup if Buderus signs, You have Boyd, Mullen, Stig, Gidley, Buderus, Hilder. One thing is for sure, you wouldn't want to be Roberts right now.

Anybody see similarities with the Dragons, perhaps another transormation from Benny. Stig-Soward, Gidley-Hornby

Roberts will be fine. Providing all of those guys are in the FG team, Roberts will be the back-up for injuries in the NSW Cup because atm Roberts is not a Top 17 NRL player, not yet. Even if say Stig plays NSW Cup too, then we have a gun injury back-up halves pairing.

Reports today The Stig has rejected an offer to stay at the Knights. It is reported he is favouring at this stage two other offers from rival NRL Teams.
Apparently even with Wayned Bennets blessing in retaining The Stig it appears The Stig is chasing the dollar.

Channel 9.... Its obvious that he would prefer to stay at Newcastle & its also obvious that we have offered him an insulting amount of money. We will keep the Stig but we need to sell him massive, if benny wants him he aint going anywhere..

Unfortunately i do not have an email link. My brother in-law phoned me from Sydney this morning and said this article appeared in the Regional Sport Section of the Sydney Sunday Telegraph.
Without exaggeration, he also stated it was reported it appears the Knights will struggle to retain the Stig with current offers far exceeding anything the Knights can offer in return.

To be fair to him he has a wife (and maybe a young kid not sure) to take care of and a lot of clubs are willing to pay overs on the four games they've seen of hiim.
