Soward was 23 when he started at the Dragons, Stig will be 22 next year under Bennett, not much difference

The difference is Soward's kicking game was elite, and it was something the Dragons required with Hornby at Half. The knights could still be successful with Gidley/Mullen in the halves (depending on what Bennett does at hooker), and its a safer option. I'd love to see Gids a hooker too, but there are many signs that he will play either in the halves, or in the 9. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

I think Gidley is amazing at Hooker, i think he plays naturally alot better there than at Half, and i think he tries to inject himself too much from fullback, i think his style is alot more suited to Hooker. Especially after watching him play there for NSW and Australia a few times.

Think he is wasted there, don't want one of our best player battering it up the middle. I see how he could be considered an extra play maker and may be dangerous but playing him there would mean were playing basically a foward down putting extra pressure on the rest of our pack. Halfback or Hooker for mine.

Anyway, Boyd will be Fullback so it's either Gidley in the Halves or at Hooker.

IMO, i'd go with:

I rate Gids higher at Hooker than in the Halves but that's just my opinion.

Gidley has trouble staying injury free these days and that's when he's playing at fullback not having to defend much and in the halves where he's defending out wide. Playing hooker where he's in the firing line in defence and having to make 30 odd tackles a game takes a toll on the body, more so then playing in the halves and at fullback IMO.

In saying that I don't think that should be a determining factor where he plays next season. We should name the best team possible and the team that will give us the best chance to win, but never the less it's a good point to raise, and having a healthy Gidley on the field regardless of position does that. He's no use to us on the sidelines come game day.

I thought i put him there As for the 9, Gidley, Boyd, Costigan, Uate, Most likely with Snowden, Houston, Edwards (Close but doubt it next year), McManus, Fa'aoso and Mullen all chances. IMO Costigan will be inplace of Lilyman next year.
