Of course Beattie was a better player than Rogers is. I'm talking about the potential I believe Rogers has to play center. A strong defender, good on his feet and a bit of m*ngrel in him. Get his head right and injury free and who knows what he could do.

But seriously, can you imagine the comments section on the Herald website. It would be mental. "Soward's not even from Newcastle" "How can we sign a guy who didn't grow up in Cessnock" "We let Patterson go for Soward?!" "Ciraldo is our future, not this hack" etc etc etc

Well if you sign Soward you would have to sign Scott to be his bodyguard and defend for him. Might as well just sack every current knight and buy the entire dragons team.

Yeah, but there'd be absolutely no way we could fit him under our salary cap anyway!
I'm confident that Bennett can turn Mullen into a similar, but better version of the current Soward anyway.

As i have done in my sig, i think Peter Mata'utia would make a good #14. Obviously it may not be needed next year but he wouldn't be too bad of a utility since he can play fullback, wing, centre & even five-eighth.
 
I dont think we need a utility back on the bench, and if we sign Bird we definitely don't need one. We're going to have the luxury of having Boyd and Gidley in the same team, two guys who can play anywhere from 1-7 and take each other's positions if needed, someone like Wes or Pete would be wasted on the bench imo. I'd rather another forward or an impact half like Roberts
