Why?

He wouldnt have had the same impact, and most likely would have been interchanged halfway through the second half with the game on the line.

He is an 80 minute player though, never dropped off at all throughout this game and other games I have seen him play 80 minutes of dummy half for the Knights.

Yeah we need a good established hooker to start the game & when they come off let Gidley tear the tired defence to shreds. Wouldn't have the same impact if the whole QLD team was as fresh as he was when he came on.

But were u calling for him to be 9 the before or after Ennis was named in the side? Because once Ennis was named, the smart option was to play Gids off the bench, so he'd be fresh at the back end of the first half. That extra half step of energy can make all the difference.

And correct me if im wrong, when has Kurt played an 80min game at hooker for the Knights? only games I can think of is where he defended at FB.

Only fault I had in his game tonight was when he first came on, he had too much energy and in that first defensive set he tried to be in every tackle, and was over pursuing the play, leaving HUGE gaps on his inside.

I am in agreement. They did the same thing to Trent Merrin as well. Let them take all the opening QLD energy, then let the faster agile players go through QLD. The first 15min are often the most brutal because everybody is fresh. Ennis is perfect for absorbing this punishment...

With Gidley and Hilder both being 80 minute players playing 9 and 13 respectively, i dont think Buderus is even needed next year. Better to come here in just a coaching role and have a bench with 2 props a SR and Filipo type utility (SR, CN) or one of the junior hookers that gets blooded by playing 10 minutes a game.

I'm pretty certain he played 80 mins at hooker against the Dragons at home in 2008? Can't remember if he defended at FB or not though.

I'd like to see us develop a genuine 2nd rower/centre too...someone in the Scott or Mannering mould would be awesome...
just thought I'd add that not all of our next recruits need come from the dragons either...

Ben Rojers...srsly would prefer to get rid of Rojers and keep Wes for his utilty

You never know mate, Wayne could turn Rogers into a world beater. Rogers has the talent, just not the consistency. And Wayne is good at getting the best out of players.

Whose Ben Rojers?

^ It took me awhile to write that. It is a piece of art.

Honestly, I'm not sure if Rogers could take the 14, I mean in the Seagles game he looked alright then popped his shoulder. But I wouldn't mind if he strung a few games in the back end of season. I'm think he is out for the rest of the reason. But who knows he could come back at around the round 20 mark.

He didn't seem to like the idea of getting the best out of Henry, or Paterson, many others. Seems like he just wants the easy job.

That's because they probably don't have it in them or don't have the right attitude. Henry has been mentioned as having issues with Wayne, while Cory just doesn't look like he wants to try. Atleast Rogers gives it a go. I would not be surprised at all if under Wayne, Rogers can get himself a bench spot for a year & play well. Obviously atm, it doesn't seem the best option, but hey in 2010 nobody thought Wes would be playing like he is now, or in 2009 nobody thought Uate would be playing as well as he is now. Just have to wait & see i guess.

Speak for yourself haha.

Josh I agree with you re Rogers. Never had any encouragement from Coach or supporters. Always referred to as enigmatic etc etc. Remember a Sat night game at home with stars missing Rogers given the extra responsibility was great. Stone has never offered one word of encouragement for the bloke. Should have been groomed for a center spot. In the Michael Beattie mould(St George supporters will remember Beattie). Strong defender solid as a rock. Oppositin centers had one eye on Beattie and one eye on the ball. Rogers would have the same impact plus as center he don't have to make as many decisions as in the halves. If he could put his injury problems behind him he would be worth a gamble.
