I'd much rather if Bird came, to play at lock.
Also I think if could sign him suddenly, it would be better (especially mid season). After all Tahu signing was completely out of the blue.

Why though? He is excellent on the edges & fringes as a second-rower. He carves up infact. Have a look at his game from Origin 1. Outstanding. Mind you he is a good lock too but i'd rather have a guy like him terrorising little guys on the edges rather than running up the middle getting bashed. Houston however could handle lock very well because of his high workrate. Howzo runs a good line but i'd love to have Taia & Bird with those roles.

I'd prefer Houzo playing second-row tbh. With Taia aswell.
I reckon Bird plays better in the middle, but hey if he comes he comes... I'd be happy him playing both!

I have to agree, why would we want a player thats best position is lock, but can play hooker at No.6/ Five-eighth, when we have plenty of players that could fill the position with ease and is there natural position, but its is YOUR team, and not the offical team.
And shouldnt we be naming players that we have signed and no that we have heard rumors about coming to Newcastle? e.g. Bird, Buderus ect
But hey, i guess theres nothing wrong with dreaming!

We havent had front rowers since the glory days tbh. Only ones consistently good were/are Smith and Fa'aoso IMO.
